I am really wanting a little extra HP/TQ from my 2019 Silverado without a supercharger right now, and was searching the internet for tuning and HP Tuners dropped their pricing to $1399 instead of $1999. My question though is how much HP/TQ are they getting out of these new T1 trucks with a tune? Has anyone pulled the trigger on this yet?  $1400 is getting a bit more reasonable now, especially if its a good gain in HP/TQ.

I know my 2018 truck gained 27/23 from a tune.

If you consider people paying $2200 for GMs Performance Package, than around $2000 isn't that bad and will likely get you better than 15 HP and 8TQ gain from the GMs Performance Package.

I have over $1600 in my S & B CAI and Corsa Exhaust. So $400 more isn't horrible.

I wanna know "HOW" much gain from this though and if anyone has done it.

buy the unlock $$$$, then buy a used "wired" obd2  HP tuners module for  like $100,  not sure what the credits are but i think it's cheaper than $500. my K2 truck seemed cheaper .

i think your better off with a tune from Black Bear, has good reviews.

on my K2 truck i've found just deactivating the ABS , stability track with "aftermarket harness switch" , running in 4th or 5th gear, burning 91 octane, a 175 t-stat. a throttle enhancers yields very impressive power output  with the STOCK TUNE without power being cut off by safety software.

the only other power robbber is the Torque managment in the transmision,  i have activated it a couple times at WOT.  most power in the mail in tunes are not really adding timing as much as you think. All the power is coming from Power Enrichment PE tables. this is the same thing as an Accellerator pump function. and is dialed down or turned off by the factory for emmisions reasons.

With the limited information I have as well as the limited people out there that have tuned them, the gains are pretty much the exact same. The engines are the same between body styles and the power ratings didn't change. Only minor things like DFM and a 10 speed transmission were added and those don't change performance.

Small correction on Flyingfools post, you can not use the older MPVI 1 HP Tuner device. Tuning anything this new requires the new MPVI2.

T1 trucks are 10 credits.  $50 a credit, $500 just to get access in addition to the ECM unlock service of $1400.

kinda makes buying a used pre-2017 truck more desireable

The K2 trucks are only $200 in credits 2017-2019, no need to unlock the ECM.  If you have an 8 speed its another $200 for the TCM.  Much better bargain than $1900 lol.

i'm not sure 20-35 hp is worth the $2500 your gonna drop

i'de put my money into the chasis, like better brake pads, open the intake , exhaust, shocks, 17" wheels tires, throttle enhancer , traction bars. sway bars..

I am not sure we have that many reliable tuners out there yet. I am not ready to do anything just yet.

Read the thread below in the link on a member who did some mods, on page 2 he talks about the challenge of learning the tuning tables.

I am hoping by this time next year there is more progress for tuning our T1 trucks.

What gets me is people will drop $3k on a lift,  tires and wheels and think nothing of it.  Dropping $2k on a tune that you can use the life of the vehicle seems fair.  Tires wear out, the tune can get better if more information comes along as one learns how to adjust the ECM and transmission and last the life of the vehicle.

Not to mention the possibility of better economy if one wants that as an option. If the shift firmness can be adjusted then a  cooler, longer lasting transmission as well.

I couldn't agree with you more! When I tuned my 2018 Sierra 6.2L it was a whole new beast. The engine ran so much smoother being in V8 mode constantly. I also got 1 mpg better with my fuel economy. The only thing I didn't touch was the transmission. I would love to have the extra 30+ HP/TQ on hand and still have it very reliable.

Some might not think 30 HP/TQ is worth it, but from "ME" who had one that was tuned compared to when it was not tuned. I would spend the $2k only if/knowing that all the bugs are worked out on these new ones.

That's why I started this thread asking if anyone had spent the money yet?

I have not seen anyone here or anywhere else do it yet on an N/A truck, save for one guy who did a cam and headers as well.

The stock tuning on the K2s was horrible, clunky and lazy. It’s so much better on the T1s that a hacked ECM is a really hard sell. Especially given the huge amount of electrical issues with these trucks that make a warranty REALLY nice to have. Not a conversation I want to have with the dealer when the truck strands me. But if you decide to do it I’d love to see the results!

you'll be in for $8000 when its all done right,  why not skip the BS and go straight to a SUpercharger  with a warrantee for $10,000

Maybe it's just me, but where are you getting $8K.....please explain

Where are you gonna get a warranty with a supercharger? I'm intrigued, no dealerships around my area offers them
