What's your take on having the Rally this year?

I think it is without a doubt the dumbest idea yet this year.

Too bad if this is your only income of the whole year. Risk the lives of literally thousands of people just so a handful of people get rich. Sad with a capital S. Greedy fu  ckers.

I'll never go there again. I'll go to the Black Hills but avoid Sturgis.

It's up the person at this point, go if you want or don't.

I think if you said the " Too bad if this is your only income of the whole year" to a person that owned a said business, you'd be in for a ear full. Telling someone that they won't have any money for bills, food or kids, possibly lose their business and livelihood isn't going to go over well with them.

I’ve owned a few business. They were my life, everything was in them. If someone was willing to come to it I’d be there. This damn bug wouldn’t stand in my way. I worked on old pipelines one false move it’s over. This bug id be laughing. I’m older I’d stay away now. Ten years ago and back, no problem.

I say adults can make the decision to go or not. People need to decide to risk it or not. It is the same thing as going to a grocery store. I also think people need to take care of themselves how they see fit. If someone wants to where a mask for protection, they can, if they dont want to they can choose not to.

Just call it "Sturgis Protest 2020". Problem solved. No Covid transmission whatsoever.

According to the media, protests haven't caused a spike, but a political rally infected 100's most likely

I agree that adults can make decisions  as long as they don't negatively impact others.  Wearing a mask, for example, isn't for your protection. Your protection is from others wearing masks. The way you can choose not to spread the virus is keeping distant from others, frequent hand washing and wearing a mask in public. You have the right, imo, not to wear a mask or wash your hands if you don't touch anything or get within 6 feet of anyone not living with you   Choosing to attend festivities at Sturgis is deliberately putting family, friends and strangers at high risk.  I was a fan of the Sturgis event but my opinion has plummeted knowing that it is a go this year.  We all know there are people who only care about themselves and providing an opportunity to potentially create a significant spike in our Covid 19 death count should not be passed off as "adult choice".

The same could be said for everything we do in life. I don’t need to make a list it’s just about everything. It’s up to the individual to make a person choice. This is the hot button right now. Don’t worry after the election it will go away. Those riders are very brave. If you don’t want to be around that it’s your choice. They made theirs.

People gathering in large close groups during a pandemic for a social event is a display of selfish behavior and/or ignorance.  I think bravery is a term best used for those demonstrating more selfless behavior.

Most of them are outside. Business owners can practice safe business practices. Unlike the democratic backed violent protests and destruction we see nightly.

Wrong. The wearing mask for others protection is just some stupid thing thought up to control and get people to wear masks because they knew people wouldn't. They went with the emotional unselfish route to get people to wear one. If I am wearing a mask next to a person that is wearing one, and he is standing next to someone wearing one, then we all choose to protect ourselves. If I am wearing one and the person next to me isn't I protected myself because I choose to, and he made the adult decision not to, and accepted the risk. His protection is not my responsibility because of his own decision. See that's the problem these days and not just with the virus. People look at others to take care of them instead of taking care of themselves. If everyone would just take care of themselves if they can then everything would be so much better.

Every thing I’ve seen or read about most mask are. You wearing a mask knocks back most of your germs. It’s not protecting you from the non mask wearing individual. Otherwise who would care. I wear one for the comfort of the other individual.

The non-surgical masks you see in general use are intended to divert the user's breath from spreading their "germs".  Masks are particularly helpful during the period of time when the user is unknowingly infected.  "Non-surgical" masks provide little personal protection for the user.  If you want to ensure your safety,  yet choose to stand next to people not wearing a mask,  you need a much higher level of protection.

There is a lot of medical advice that comes from trusted buddies and/or politicians.  However, you will find more helpful information is available to help you determine the safest path.   "Masks" vary in their uses and effectiveness.  The ones you see worn in the general public help reduce the spread.  The informed user will still strive to maintain a distance from others, especially people who are bare faced.

The impact of this virus is a global issue and is commonly used as a political football.  However, the threat is serious for everyone and there are basic, common sense, steps you can take to reduce the impact to you and your loved ones.
