roof marker lights

Recommended Posts

what is the build code for the roof marker lights?

can somebody that has them, post a pic of your window sticker please?

I am looking at a truck that is in transit still and I am trying to determine if it has roof marker lights. If so, they are a deal breaker.

TIA

Unlike previous years the 2020 HD’s have roof marker lights as standard equipment

Nevermind, that statement only applies to the GMC, you can still get the Chevy without

They are optional equipment on BOTH Chevrolet and GMC.  Denali and all duallies (Chevy and GMC) they are standard equipment.

Option code is U01

Trucks with emissions code YF5 California state emissions requirements you can't get the roof lamps on those.

Why are they a deal breaker?  The OE ones rarely leak compared to all the aftermarket ones out there.

They are also included in a bunch of 2500 optional packages. (might find the code for the package, but not see UO1 in the listing)

this makes sense. the particular truck I am looking at, is a 3500 SRW Denail with California emissions. I don't see them listed anywhere on the build sheet or the generic window sticker on the website.

also, I cannot chose them as an option on the GMC website, but I can on the Chevy

I don't like them, so I don't want them

what is the purpose of them anyway?

Originally they (and still are) were mandated by the government to alert other drivers that a larger vehicle was approaching.  I believe if the truck is over 80” wide they are required.  They expanded to smaller vehicles because many, including me, think they look pretty cool.  When I look at an HD without them it almost seems like something is missing..

so why with Cali emissions you get NO clearance lights ?

AFAIK, it's Cali regs.

In any case, if Cali emissions, only the DRW trucks get the roof lights.

Thank you!  Now I know that I am not crazy!  I saw a Denali SRW the other day without roof lamps and was just dumbfounded (here in CO), it must have been a Cali truck.  At least we can spot them coming
