How can I tell if I have this transmission?

Will it stop erratic shifting if I've already deleted afm with a mpg tune?

Thanks fellas

Look at your RPO code sticker in the glove compartment. MYC - TRANSMISSION, 6 SPD AUTOMATIC

If you have an 8 speed, its a different transmission than this post.

What year, model, engine size & miles would be a good start, so that others know what your driving.

Not sure about you 2nd question. 6 speed has it's issues & 8 speed it's issues. So, let's determine which transmission you have 1st

i think all 1500 trucks after 2014 have trans stat...

if it shifts wierd have the dealer do a "trans re-learn proceedure" and a flush..

I don't think dealer will do a transmission relearn b/c I've run a delete AFM and tuned it to a mpg save option.

Even if I set truck back to stock tune with AFM on then they do a transmission relearn, I think when I get truck back I will return it to aftermarket tune b/c the sound of 4 cylinder kicking in and out constantly and shifting constantly drives me crazy( hence the AFM delete and tune I've installed(i already had all fluid flushed, new filter and 12quarts of new improved synthetic fluid done b/c the wiring harness was throwing a po711 code...

So in my head it would just confuse the system to set back to stock, dealership does this relearn, I get it back reset it to delete AFM/tune what did I just gain?( Other than really confusing my truck with its adaptive learning system)

I'm tempted to just wait for Atleast 1000 miles or so and see if the adaptive learn straightens itself out and if it doesn't, change it from a mpg save to a performance tune and hopefully that will keep a more aggressive shift pattern?

What do y’all think about this. It will work as a thermostat delete and then put a an fitting on the transmission line.

you can disable AFM by driving in 5th gear or lower, using 6th gear activates it.

I did this mod on my 8 speed. It will not do anything for your erratic shifting problem. This lets the transmission fluid recirculate through the trans cooler all of the time, which keeps the trans fluid temperature down.

If it's shifting weird drive in tow/haul mode, this makes it slightly more aggressive. Or get it tuned, which is about $1000 CAD

Not to stray from the cooler mod here, but you need to ditch the "tuner" you are using and get a custom tune.

Well that's what I'm getting at, it shifts normal when cool in the morning ( every time)

Then on way home after sitting on hot blacktop parking lot it shifts totally different and gets more noticeable as I'm watching the temperature in the transmission rise on my dash screen...

LTZ4.......IMO, you need to have your dealer replace the fluid in your 8 speed to the newer Mobil 1 Synthetic LV ATF HP transmission fluid. There's a TSB on this out there,

Check this link...https://gm-techlink.com/?p=11127

Already did, but only 350 miles ago so I think it's still in relearning pattern hopefully

These trannys are always “learning” trying to maximize mpg, etc. After 350 miles it should be done the initial learn and smooth out. 10-20 hot/cold cycles is usually all it takes.

There is no downside to deleting the thermostat. I was seeing as hot as 80*C before I flipped the pill. Now it won’t go above 50. No change in mpg, but also no change in shifting either. Get it tuned
