Apple Car Play/Android via Bluetooth instead of plug in??

Recommended Posts

Have 2020 GMC 3500HD AT4 and currently need to plug my apple iPhone in with cable to use apple car play,  also to have all my phone contacts are available.  Have read that 2021 infotainment systems will have apple car play and android available to use via Bluetooth and not need cable.  Any idea if this will be a software upgrade that can be backward compatible with the 2020 infotainment systems?  Sure would be nice not to have to plug the phone in each time.

That's awesome news!  Much appreciated.  Will be going out and getting the CarPlay2air dongle and giving that a try.

Yeah it’s awesome others I read have issues so not sure if they changed something to make it work now but I love it. My plan was the same as yours I was thinking we could just take the stereo module out of a newer vehicle with wireless CarPlay. I took the bluetooth modules from a 2012 and was plug and play in my 2008 to give me factory Bluetooth so hopefully it’s the same so the ones that can’t get this dongle working have another option.
