HD Mirrors on a Silverado 1500

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if the HD mirrors will bolt up to the half ton trucks?  I know that Silverado and Sierras have different part numbers, and they can not bolt up due to different body line, but I'm unsure about the HD body lines.

I know wiring will be different, I've think I've got that part figured out though, well everything except for the power extending (I did check, and the mirrors will still extend manually).  The HD mirrors are actually a little nicer since they still have puddle lamps.

If this is for your 2020 LTZ Duramax, you would need to get the correct matching option tow mirror based on your equipment.  So if you have the safety package with the blind spot monitor in the mirror, you have to get matching mirrors.  Same for 360 surround vision.

You can't use the mirror kit they sell if you have power fold and or the safety package.

GM has towing mirrors for the 1/2 tons finally. It's an available accessory if you have the standard mirrors.

Yah I know about those, but they don't have power folding or blind spot.

They do power fold if you have a trim lvl with power fold. And the puddle lamps can be added. Auto dimimg also works if your trim level had the diming mirrors. There is blind spot as well if your trim level has it.

if your trim level does not have power folding mirrors there's no way to add it because the harness does not exist inside of the door or dash.

Yah they do have them on factory trucks, but you can not get power folding mirrors from GM accessories.  I would have to purchase individual mirrors from the parts dept.  what I’m asking about are if HD mirrors will physically bolt on to a Silverado 1500.  HD mirrors are already starting to pop up used on eBay, versus 1500 tow mirrors are very rare

Interesting I was told since they order accessories against your vin, you get the towing mirrors that we're optional with your model from the factory.

Meaning high country get power folding, auto diming, and blindspot, and side cameras. I believe HC had puddle lamps too.

How are you going to get them to fold? All the research I have seen is that the dash harness and door harnesses are different between higher models with power fold and lower trims without.

What options does your truck have?  I can get the info, just need to know if you have the safety package, the forward facing task lamps, etc.

Why would anybody need blind spot in a towing mirror? I use the convex one for that.

...because the truck has the blind spot monitoring system?  Because the indicator is in the mirror?

Not the case.  GM only has one type of tow mirror available for 1/2 ton truck at the moment which is the 1/2 ton RPO code DPO mirror.  It has power-adjustable heated upper glass, lower convex mirrors, integrated turn signals, clearance lamps and auxiliary lighting; manual folding/extending.

They can't be installed on a truck with the safety 1 or any other safety package.

Pretty sure tow mirrors are not an option with the 360 surround vision package.  The mirrors don't have the necessary cameras for that package.  I opted for tow mirrors (about $400 factory installed) compared to the 360  surround vision (about $3k option based on trim level).

They sure are, both on HD and 1500.  On the 1500 you need LTZ or High Country with the DQS tow mirrors which forces on the CWM technology package that includes the 360 surround vision.

Same setup on the HD trucks, LTZ or High Country, just need to add the CWM technology package.  Those trims on HD come with DZC mirrors (power everything) which are everything minus camera and blind spot.  There are three versions of the DZC mirror, the base one, one for blind spot, and then blind spot with 360 surround.

I see that now on the build and price site.  Price jumped $7K!  Too funny.  Funny sad not funny haha.

Adding the mirrors automatically added the following packages:
Technology - LTZ Convenience - LTZ Convenience II - Safety - Safety II.  Removing any one of those removes the towing mirrors.
How stupid of GM!
The tow mirrors on my LT Trail Boss were a $345 option.  No package add-ons necessary.  The tech/camera package is cool. Very cool.  But NOT even close to $7k cool!  I just want to be able to tow my 20' boat safely.

I am on my 8th truck in the last 18 years so you can safely say I am a GM fanboy.  When looking for my most recent truck (see my signature) I had just three requirements.  Leather, tow mirrors, 6' 6" bed.  I got all three.  Would have been nice to be able to get cooled seats as the only leather available in the LT TB is black.  Cooled seats are not an option on an LT so I had the windows tinted.  It helps a lot.  Power folding mirrors would also have been nice.  Again, not an option on an LT.  I digress.  I am super happy with my truck!

Well more people get the packages than the tow mirrors. High trim levels tend to be loaded. GM is the only one to offer leather as a package vs forcing you into a 50k trim level.
