Radio completely dead

Recommended Posts

It's a 2009 Silverado 1500 2WD no frills vehicle. When I bought it the other day I noticed the radio didn't work and I thought no problem, probably a fuse. Well it's not the fuse, I checked all the fuses with a meter and they're good. Then I started noticing all sorts of warning lights coming and going like the check brake system, check engine the brake light and some. These come and go. The engine runs fine, oil checks ok and the a.c.works.

I'm thinking electrical problem but I don't know where to begin to start.

Hope this helps

So, a new to you truck, sounds like a variety of electrical problems, not specific to the radio, so I would suggest checking all the fuses, both underhood and in cab, then going through power and ground connections, removing, cleaning, reattaching them.

But expect it to be a hassle to find, as most likely the P.O. ditched it because they couldn't figure out where the problem was and didn't want to spend the money on someone else to find it.

You posted in the HD (2500-3500 models) section.  You may get a better response if you post in the 1999-2013 Silverado and Sierra 1500 section or in the Ask a GM Technician section.  You need a GM scantool scan to tell you what the trouble codes are.
