Starter(remote start) issues.

Recommended Posts

Been battling this for a while - thought that I fixed it. Started out that I only had problems when remote starting in the cold whether. The engine would attempt to turn over then stop and the horn and lights would start flashing. Greased the starter bearings thinking that it was dragging causing battery voltage to dip. That fixed the problem through the winter until now.  ( ive since replaced the starter - definitely sounds better)

Now a couple of times it has happened when starting with the key. One time it did nothing. tried again and it started right up. Another time I tried with the key (had drivers door open) did same but warning on DIC said "hood open".  Id say this issues arises about one in very one hundred starts.   Battery? Starter? HIM module? HELP PLEASE

I would first look at battery. These trucks do weird things when the battery is getting weak.

definitely thought about that, batteries aint cheap for these things.

Bad hood switch can cause inop remote start.  It thinks the hood is open and disables it.  Try a new hood latch.

this has crossed my mind for sure

I'd check GROUNDS! see videos.

These are just suggestions....Hope it helps.   You can search "ground issues" on youtube to see the problems these Chevys can have. Just saying.....
