GM exhaust

Recommended Posts

Many have said it's the borla touring system, but I don't know for sure. No tips included with the GM system, you just use the same rectangular dual rear tips already installed from stock.

GM and Borla designed it together and Borla makes it for GM. It's not the same as an off the shelf Borla system.

FWIW the GM CAI was designed by GM and K&N.

I'll be interested to hear your feedback.  Also interested to hear your thoughts on CAI with factory exhaust, and then CAI with borla exhaust.  Any "noticeable" performance differences from stock?  Which Borla system did you end up going with?

With just the CAI, it feels like it was opening up quicker. I bought the borla set up GM is selling . I tried to find as much online about it as i could. And it does appear to be close to the touring system. I like the fact i could get either chrome or black quad tips. My 454 has an x pipe with dual super 44's .Its loud. I wanted to hear this truck (like my vette or an LS1) but not over done. I'll let u know how everything comes together.

I had the factory GM performance CAI and exhaust installed a couple weeks ago. My GMC has the through the bumper exhaust, so just like the standard exhaust, there are no tips, they just line up with the trim bezels. It is larger diameter, fits like original, but no flaps or rear resonators -it sounds great. When I get into it, it sounds almost as loud as my Z06 with the flaps open. It has a nice rumble at start up and idle, but not too obnoxious when doing steady 70mph.  We went on our first road trip to camp last weekend and my wife, more than once, said that it sounds great!

As others have said, GM deigned/ engineered it with Borla and has them build it for them, but you can't get it from Borla -only GM.

I have the GM CAI and GM/Borla exhaust with the black tips. Never drove it stock, had all that installed before taking delivery of the truck. It sounds awesome, especially cold start! I highly recommend both and it cruises down the highway at a very reasonable sound. You get on it though, it’ll let everyone around it know it’s there!
