Spare tire lock

What’s everyone doing for a spare tire lock? Debating on just running a cable through to the frame and a weatherproof lock. I just don’t want it to rust and screw me if I ever need to use it.

I've got a chain and regular lock with a plastic cap over where the key goes in, but still got lots of crap inside the lock and I'll have to cut it off and find another lock that seals better.

My 2020 Silverado LT came with one from the factory. Are you sure your 2020 AT4 does not have one ?

 

Open up the little flap to the right of the license plate that the jack handle goes in and see if there is a keyed block off plate there. Mine unlocks with the metal key inside of the remote.

Ya I comes with a lock so you can’t lower it down but it doesn’t stop someone from cutting the wire that holds it up in the center of the spare.

And the same bolt/cable cutter that they use to cut the factory cable will cut your aftermarket cable and/or lock.

 

If they want it bad enough they'll get it.

 

The same cordless cutoff tools and side grinders they are using to cut "theft-proof" bike locks will work on your truck too.

I certainly won't be sad if somebody steals my spare tire. It'll just be an excuse to get a full size spare [emoji16]

My spare tire is exactly the same tire as the 4 on the ground. The spare wheel is a 7 spoke black aluminum one.
