Weird Sh** my 2020 Does/Has

600 miles on my 2020 TB, here's my list so far:

- Never ended list of noises, clicks, and whines when I open the door, pull on a door handle, or turn it off, pretty crazy.

-Voltometer jumps all over the place....never had this before in a car.  Usually it holds steady @ 14.4

-When i open the doors at night, bed lights come on with perimeter lighting....but not the high mount cargo lamp above the back window

- Did they really remove key less entry on back doors between 2019 and 2020?

-interior night lighting on front doors...but not the back!

-AC drains directly on top of exhaust so i hear it sizzle once it's parked

-Connect to carplay, unplug phone for one reason or another, radio stops working until key is cycled

-truck is running, i jump out but leave it running, i hit the lock button on remote, when i get back in, auto lights do not work, and unlock buttons on doors don't work until key is cycled.

-fog lights don't stay on with auto headlight feature.

-smallest fricken gas tank in it's class....and it's not like there's no room under there!

-sometimes the radio controls on back of steering wheel don't change radio stations

-autostart climate control (AC) has not been working unless i leave it on when i turn the truck off.

I love this truck, but man it is quirky.

In regards to the remote start AC: it goes off of the last setting you had before you turned it off. It’s 2020, there’s absolutely no reason to be tuning off the ac before you shut the truck off [emoji23]

Noises: so many computers on these newer trucks. They do what they do.

Glitches requiring key cycle: GM does not have the programming down for these things. They are FULL of software related bugs. It’s RIDICULOUS. They’ve been out for more than a year now and they still can’t get the programming right.

A few observations:

The voltmeter fluctuation is normal. There are 5 different charging modes in the ECM that it dictates depending on operating conditions, which will sometimes make the charging voltage swing from as low as ~12.8 to as high as 15v.

Fog lights have never stayed on despite auto headlights. They always revert to off after every ignition cycle.

Contrary to what Jav-eee mentioend, every GM vehicle with OEM remote start that I've owned enables HVAC to whatever conditions present, regardless of last switched position. If it's hot outside, the AC will be on full blast and vice-versa. If yours is not doing that, there may be a setting somewhere in your infotainment to adjust, along with some of the other issues you have. I strongly suggest reading the owners manual as I guarantee there will be more info to answer some of your concerns.

Do you have a 2019/2020? Because I have a 2019. And I, along with others who own the same year models, have noticed the remote start AC running at the same setting it was set to before the truck shut off. You’d think that GM would have it go off of environmental conditions but they DID remove the ability to unlock the truck from the rear doors (present on the 2019 models) from the 2020 models.

In other words: GM is pretty damn dumb when it comes to this stuff.

No I don't. And I hope you didn't think I was trying to say you were wrong; just offering my experience with older models of course. I'm surprised your 19+ trucks don't enable that feature. It seems kind of an oversight since they've always had it until now apparently.

I have a 2020 AT4 and can unlock the from the rear door. I do it every day to throw my backpack on the rear floor before getting in the driver’s door (which is already unlocked at that point).

The man said his doesn’t do that. I have a 2019 and mine does so I dunno. I was adding his experiences to my post. Idk

Most likely the fuel pump priming.  Normal.

-Voltometer jumps all over the place....never had this before in a car.  Usually it holds steady @ 14.4

Normal.  ECM and BCM control the entire charging system and can constantly change the duty cycle and output.

-When i open the doors at night, bed lights come on with perimeter lighting....but not the high mount cargo lamp above the back window

I think that is normal.  Cargo lamps are tied into the cargo lamp switch.  The 2014-2018 trucks were the same.

-fog lights don't stay on with auto headlight feature.

Pretty sure you can command the fogs on in AUTO and obviously with the switch in the park or headlamps position.  I'll have to go out on the lot and play with that.

-autostart climate control (AC) has not been working unless i leave it on when i turn the truck off.

Climate will run the last settings it was set at during a remote start.  If you leave the climate in AUTO all the time, it will run it in AUTO during a remote start event.  If you have it dialed in to other settings, it will run those.

When I remote start, it cranks the AC and seat cooling until I start it, when it cycles to whatever the last setting was.  There are some settings in the software but not sure it says "full blast or last setting".

Fog lights always on with headlights - there is a jump on the fuse box somebody sells.  5 minute install from what I read.  You might search on here but I've seen it on one of the FB sites.

Noises - normal, they all do it.

AC on exhaust - by design I understand.  Better than a big puddle of water in your garage.

-Rear unlock - I heard they removed it on some 20's maybe due to parts shortage.  Kind of a shitty approach.  My 19 has it.

To unlock the back doors via keyless entry, there is a setting in the infotainment system where you can choose to unlock the drivers door only, both front doors only or all four. Go into the system under vehicle personalization and you can change the setting.

My understanding is that some of the trucks don’t have the button on the handle to do it. I can’t find that post though.

I was saying that i do not have the keyless entry buttons on my rear exterior door handles.  My brother has a 2019, and his does.  Looked a few more 20's...they don't either/.

So my settings are configured to auto heat cool with climate conditions on auto start...and it has always done it because i have been leaving the HVAC system on when i turn the truck off...then when i get in and hit the start button the climate controls return to the last setting i had them on when i turn the truck off.

This time...i turned the climate control off before exiting the truck.  When i remote started, the AC was not on despite the settings being set to auto cool/heat on remote start.

Interesting info on the cargo lights. I thought my '04 had them go on at night with the door opening.  I wonder why they don't do that anymore.

Anyway, love the truck, no major complaints just some quirks i'm finding as i spend more time behind the wheel.
