Color Marked Parts

Recommended Posts

Randomly notice these from time to time. Anyone know what the yellow marked part means? Or the blue?

More than likely marked during assembly in case anything comes lose over time and is misaligned you can use those markings for reference. Same reason one would mark their nuts/bolts during maintenance or suspension work. Mainly reference marking.

Some are inspector markings, some are quality markings like the bolts/fasteners were final torqued, and others are color codes for certain parts. Paint dabs and markings can mean various things, but usually it's some sort of "code" for assembly line use. Owners usually do not care as long as it operates the way it's supposed to.

Say there's two types of a part on the assembly line depending on the option, and if one has blue dots or stripes, and the other has orange. Build sheet calls for orange, the worker can snag the orange marked part and install it without having to figure out which part is supposed to go on the vehicle.
