Chevy Tahoe 1997 33's

Recommended Posts

I just bought a 1997 chevy tahoe 4x4 stock. It's got some 20 inch rims with 275/45rr20 tires. I'm going to sell the rims and tires though. One of my buddies i know has 33's on his 99 chevy silverado. The tires stick out pretty wide and their kinda nobby not real nobby giving it a nice ride. I was wondering if i could fit 33's on my tahoe and how wide they could be cuz i want them wide and kinda nobby giving it an offroad look. I will be driving mostly street. The only time i really go offroad is just driving around not real hard, and sometimes i go 4 wheeling. Please any replies would be appreciated :shakehead:

I know you have a Tahoe, but my truck is the same front end. I had 33's on 15x10 rims with just a few turns of the torsion bars. I added the rear lift blocks because the rear wasn't as high as I wanted. I just trimmed the front black dam, no rubbing other than that spot. I'd get a picture of what it looks like up close, but my truck is being put back together after a deer decided to run in front of me. You can see a couple pics of my truck with the 33's and no lift.

The 33's will not fit on a stock 4-door Tahoe/Yukon. The 4-doors sit about 1.5 inches shorter than P/U's, Sub's and 2-door Tahoe/Yukon's. They were designed with shorter body mounts to fullfill the "station wagon" role a little more. They will rub in the front at the air dam as mentioned, but also in the rear while turning. 3 or 4 inches of lift would be just about right, with some room to spare.

The biggest I could get on there before lifting it was a 285/75R16 which is a little shorter than 33. I would ask your buddy if you can mount his wheels on your truck for a day, and see if and where they rub.
