2018 Sierra - what to do first!

Recommended Posts

Averaged on the Highway with the AC on and the bed of the truck full of collers and bagage and four people in the cab running about 65 to 75 mph on the highway straight thru to lake cumberland non stop for about 4 hrs averaged 17 to 20 mpg / city is about 12 to 14 mpg but that allot and stop and go ... this is about what i got my 2009 5.3  I did drive it without the range for awhile the problem was when i towed the camper with the 2009 RPMs flutuated allot with it in the tow mode ...

I have the sticker from the 2018 truck its stats 17 mpg  combined city and highway .... this also based on how you drive the truck ....also if your a lead foot i dont see how you can even get a good average mpg ... I will see here in couple weeks when i go camping with the 2018 i know its geared different with the current tow package ....

Without the AFM are you getting fuel mileage or worse. I understand it's a truck but AFM has to help fuel mileage vs help otherwise why put it in.

On my 6.2L I don't even notice the changeover other than a slight change in sound (Borla exhaust probably amplifies the difference though).  I'm averaging 17.6 MPG in combined city/hwy driving, and on a recent round trip ATL-NOLA averaged 24.6mpg... from a 6.2L!  I attribute that mostly to the AFM.

I hear mixed things about leveling. Rough ride due to geometry.

Do you have any experience with an 18 Z71? I do a lot of highway driving so comfort and handling are number 1.
I have a 2018 Sierra as well. I bought it new. I did the console tray and the underseat storage. That's it. I bought it for weekend and vacation use. It has 11,000 miles on it. I drive my old clunker to work.

Congrats on the truck purchase.  For me after purchasing my 2018 Sierra Denali Ultimate 6.2;  I waited about 2 months and got the GM Rev Tonneau Cover(hard folding type) and the GMC moulded splash guards.  The dealer through in the Weather Tech mats front and rear.  I also added the GM Under seat storage for the rear .  It fits like a glove and holds lots f things.  Also got the truck Krown oil sprayed once last fall, going in next month for second application.  I haven’t done any performance mods as I had my fun many many years ago with exhaust, cams, tunes, CAI,etc.  Just wanna drive this truck and that’s it, been pretty happy with it so far..

Good luck with your new truck.

Just purchased the Range for the AFM issues. I hope it works and doesn't effect fuel mileage too much.  The hesiatation and such  IMO  is annoying. Have driven the truck for 1100 miles since i bought it a month or so ago with 6400 miles on it and the V4 on the dash came one 1 time and that was for an instant. So I am assuming the truck is pretty much in V8 mode. As stated in another post cannot stand the way it drives like this always acting like it is search for a gear, hesitation, missing feeling etc. Hope the range straightens that out.

Other than the hesitation love it and drive it.
