winterization cost

Recommended Posts

For your information:

Local Chevy dealer cost to furnish and install heated battery blanket, engine block heater, heated crankcase oil dipstick and replace petroleum based lubricants with synthetics was $650  .

Surprisingly, some OEM lubricants were synthetic, some petroleum based. Do not remember offhand and work order is in truck parked at hospital where wife works. Beleive cranckcase, rear end and one differential were petroleum based.

Winterization required by shippers for vehicles shipped to Alaska, where I may go in lieu of Saudi Arabia. Still waiting for work visa to Saudi Arabia, and in light of recent events there, mat accept recent offer to work in Anchorage.

Battery blanket and block heater each have a 120 Volt grounded male plug dangling through grill. Dipstick has plug as well, but is only used for heating, not while operating vehicle due to potential engine damage, per instructions with dipstick. I have a 120 Volt grounded 8 inch extension cord with 3 female plug receptacles and 1 male plug. Will plug in battery balnket and block heater male plugs into this and feed out through air dam at recovery tow hooks to clean up instalation.

If anyone is interested :D or contemplating  after market winterization of their vehicle. Unintended benefit is interior passenger cabin heater is warm air at the get go.
