Sierra 1500 SLT X31 - GOING TO LOOK AT

Recommended Posts

I am going to look at a Sierra 1500 SLT x31 package with the premium plus package.

So hard to find honest review videos online.

5.3l 10 speed. They're offering 9500 off MSRP with the deals right now.

Can get a 60k truck down to 50k before down Payment and trade in.

Does anyone have one to provide an honest opinion.

Not dealer centric.

Was looking at an RST until I realized the difference between the cloth and ventilated leather. So I looked at LTZ and SLT packages. Wanted to find one with safety features for blind spot and front parking assistance. This one has it and more. Comes on 20 inch rims and Goodyear Wrangler ATs.

I'm just looking to get some opinions about owning it. Will be using for mostly highway and for loading my quad.

Can you let me know what you think.

Also the color is Quartz Metallic which I haven't seen yet. Hopefully it's nice in person because finding an SLT OR AT4 is a real hard thing to come by in my neck of the woods.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Moe

Mine is a 2019, so I have the 8-speed instead of the 10-speed. They also supposedly retuned the suspension for 2020 due to people complaining about their 2019s riding rough. I personally do not mind the ride on my 19 X31. So far, I like my truck a lot. I've had it for just over a year and 15,000 miles. Only problem I've had was a check engine light last week. Turned out to be something with the brake module not communicating with the rest of the truck. Seems to be a common issue. I too was looking at an RST originally, but the lack of features (no power passenger seat or power folding mirrors) also turned me over to an LTZ or SLT. I was able to get a better deal on my truck, so I went GMC.

I'm always looking but my wife assures me that I don't need a new truck!  There isn't a new Silverado or Sierra produced that wouldn't  be good for the highway and for loading a quad.  Based on what I've observed, I'd encourage you to look carefully at each SLE or LT on the lot.  There is a tremendous range in configuration at these trim levels.   Features like tires and wheels can be swapped as part of the negotiation process. In '09 I looked for a GMC with all of the badges and off-road abilities.  It was a beautiful truck but only saw pavement.  In 2015 I had comfort and highway economy in mind.  My '15 has a beautiful leather interior and outstanding fuel economy.   (This truck has seen off-road and a lot of snow!)  Both of these trucks were SLE's.  The most recent truck I wished to purchase was a 2020 SLE with all of the popular nanny options.  Unfortunately it would have required a car loan which is the worst option that can come with a new truck!  Welcome to this forum and good luck with your search!

I was looking first at the GMC  SLT  , but changed my mind the GMC looked more like as my son would say a grandpa truck with all the chrome and I just didn't

like the huge front end on them , couldn't justify the $65000 for the AT4 so  I went with the RST Rally with the 6.2 and leather ,moon roof and 22 inch wheels

MSRP was $60600 and I got it for 48000 , I do miss the folding mirrors when I go through the bank drive through and the none power passenger seat but I have had

the ventilated seats and they really didn't  do much and I have the safety features so I`m very happy with my purchase, the 6.2 is a beast.

Can't get front bucket seats in an SLE/ LT any more.

Thanks. Is it safe to say GM has ironed out the check shake?

The steering wheel had some vibration over 65/70 but nothing extreme. On smoother roads it was almost gone.

Am I just being nit picky. My Colorado has a similar feel on the same stretch.

The seats are the same I believe but the centre console may not be an option.  Personally, the standard jump seat with top and bottom storage works fine for me.  I actually once used it as a seat! ?

The T1s are obviously different but I can't comfortably hold the wheel or rest my elbow in a K2 with a bench seat. Also, I like all the space and storage in a console.

I don't mean to get off topic but are the seats different in trucks equipped with a centre console in the T1's?

That I have no idea. I just found the middle seat to be in the way of my arm when folded down and if I had one, I would keep it folded because I'm more likely to have small stuff than a passenger there.

A 2018 SLT is a nice truck and 24,000 miles is reasonable.  It is young enough to be a very nice truck, but old enough to have seen hard times.  Be sure to have it inspected by a qualified, objective third party.  My problem is with the cost. With a $36,000 to spend I'd be asking about manager's demos or other discounted newer trucks.
