2018 Silverado starter issue

Recommended Posts

So like the title says I have a 2018 Silverado and the starter went bad after only 17k. Normally that wouldn't be a big deal but apparently it's a known issue and they can't get one, going on 3 days already and not looking too promising for Monday either. My main question is does anyone have any tips for getting a loaner or a rental from them? The dealership says they don't have one and customer service is also very unhelpful.

They just keep telling me they don't have one and don't seem to even care. So I called the Chevy customer service people and they are even more useless then the dealership. I'm just glad Im not alone in thinking the loaner was required, they were beginning to make me think I was the crazy one.

I guess I've been fortunate with my dealership.
whenever they have been out of one of their own, then they rent one from Enterprise or Hertz and give me that
Instead.

Same for me and I bought mine used from the dealer and an extended warranty. Each time they've worked on my truck, I've gotten a rental from Enterprise. Each time they have worked on it, it has only been about 3 hours most to do the repair. Really just long enough for me to go eat lunch and walk around Guitar Center for a bit.

I feel pretty let down by my dealer and GM customer service. I watch my infant son now because of this covid nonsense and not having my basically brand new truck or a loaner is unacceptable. I just don't know what to do now because they don't seem to care at all and have no clue when they will even have a starter for my truck.

They have been having starter problems since 2014. You would think they would have had it resolved by 2018, but no.  They are using the cheapest parts they can find at assembly but want an arm and a leg for a new truck.
