Gator Tailback vs Extang Solid Fold 2.0

Recommended Posts

Does anybody have any expierence with Gator Tailback or Extang Solid Fold 2.0? I have a easy install rail-less Gator soft trifold, but I was thinking about to one of the rail-less hard trifold since they look a little nicer to me. I like the rail-less covers because I keep a toolbox on for everyday use, but I swap to a toneau cover for road trips. Thanks for the help!

I have had an extang solid fold 2.0 on my last 3 trucks, my parents both have one on their trucks...and I'm thinking of buying one for my daughters truck...you could say I am a fan. They will leak a bit,  not terrible but you will have some water get in the bed during a rain storm.

I had a Solid Fold 2.0 on my previous F150 and it leaked really bad at the hinges. The retailer ended up refunding my purchase, but said it was common with that cover. That was about 4 years ago, so maybe they have since improved it or maybe I just had a dud. Either way, I then went with a LoMax and now have one in my Sierra as well.

I've got an extang solid fold 2.0 tool Box version on my '09 dually.  It works well.  Only real problem I have with it is where it's supposed to hook up/attach to the truck in the rear isn't in the right place.  It still works but it's not where the directions or the company says it's suppose to be.  It's not completely water sealed either but between the bed liner, tool box, and tailgate cover, and stake pocket tie downs I didn't expect it to be 100%.  It's good enough that I don't worry about anything I put back there and if I do I just toss it in a plastic tub/box thing anyway which makes loading and unloading easier too.  It has a lot more plastic on it than I'd like for the price I paid.  Comes off easy enough when I need full use of my bed and it's been in the FL sun for about a year and doesn't appear to have started fading yet.
