pos 4l60e

last december i purchesed a 97 1500 v6 2wd auto with 48000 on the odo in april with 55000 the tranny stripped the sun gear and it was wrecked got it rebuilt after the rebuild the 1-2 shift was hard till it warmed up then again in august 3-4 gear dropped due to burnt clutches and now the 1-2 shift is worse and it rattles throught i had it at 5 differnt shopes all said every thing was tight and normal was wondering if any of u had simmilar trouble or is it taht my tranny just sucks ass

Sounds to me like your tranny wasn't rebuilt correctly. A properly built stock 4L60E can take some good power if it isn't abused. A 4.3L shouldn't hardly be challenging it.

 

I've probably run over 200 unofficial 1/8th mile runs on my camaro's stock 4L60E without it ever giving me a hickup. Granted it was designed to be a little stronger, its still a 4L60E.

 

My truck has 120k on it, and 30k of it with the engine mods, and it also hasn't ever shown any sign of being weak.

 

Your tranny wasn't rebuilt correctly if it died fast behind your 4.3L. A properly built 4L60E should least nearly indefinitely behind a 4.3L.
