2014 Chevy Silverado service power steering drive with care

Recommended Posts

I can't seem to find good information on a problem I am having with my power steering. My truck is @63125 miles and is giving me multiple alarms on the dash,

Service power steering drive with care, stabilitrak, trailer break (intermittent), traction control light (Intermittent).

 Codes:

U0077 - please refer to vehicle  service manual
U0452 - invalid data received from restraints control module
U0151 - Lost communication with restraints  control  module
C0710 - please refer to manual
U0428 - invalid data received steering angle sense module
U0126 - Lost communication with steering angle sensors module

I had the dealership diagnos and they told me there is a short in the power steering unit and that I needed to replace the assembly.... ($1900 for just the part)

Part #:Steering Gear Replaced by Part Number 84532344 - GM (84235647) | GMPartsDirect.com

I trace the wires from the battery to the power on the servo driving the rack and pinion and found no short. I believe the next step is to check the ohms across the motor however I do not know what they should come out at. If any of you know I would appreciate the information. Or if anybody else has experienced a similar problem and has a potential solution. I am hoping it is the steering position sensor.

Check the ground connections under the dash close to the base of the windshield.   There's posts about it.  Could be your issue and it's a free fix.

So I checked out the grounds and they appear to be tight still. Nothing looks corroded either. The wires under the sill plate appear to be in good shape as well... I think they were right about the power steering unit being the problem but I disagree with replacing the whole assembly. https://www.gmpartsbin.com/p/Chevrolet_2014_Silverado-1500/Motor-Kit---Power-Steering-ASST/65129514/23361176.html This is a link for just the motor in the assembly. Is this something that can be replaced without removing the entire assembly?

I have the same problem with my 2014 Chevy pickup-  service stabiltrak, service power steering assist, service trailer brake, service Brake system   Dealership can’t figure it out. They replaced a battery cable and now a break module.  I was told to just drive it until get gets worse.  Would love a better answer

Welcome to the site.

How old is your battery? Pretty sure the dealer told you it checked out ok. Once the battery starts to fail, you will get all sorts of weird electrical problems.

I am having the same issue my 2014 Z 71 power pace. System is not working at all. Is there a way to service it? Anyway I was stuck in the creek for three hours had it running the whole time I was afraid I wouldn’t get it started again if I didn’t and now it doesn’t work at all I dry the power connections out that was about two weeks ago and it still does not work. Is there a way to check the fluids or is there any in it or anything I might do to get it working besides buying a whole new system which is $1200 for the rack and pinion in

empiricist it’s all one piece they say at O’Reillys anyway thanks to anyone that could help
