Ordering a new Silverado and have a ?

Recommended Posts

I started a thread the other day about rst and ltz the differences.Anyways most ltz’s I see are loaded up really nice but I don’t really want one that loaded. So I talked with my local Chevy dealer today and asked about ordering a truck.Told him what I was looking for and he said ok yeah most of them do come pretty loaded. So I asked if I order a truck would I need to put anything down and he told me yeah I would need to put down between 3k and 5k to order one.Totally floored me I could See 500 to a 1k In case you back out of it but dang.Anyone else on here ever had a quote like that?

Wow that’s a lot

I have ordered 3 trucks. My 2000 and 2010 I out $500 down. My 2019 I put $0 but the sales lady knew me well since I had bought a Camaro a year earlier from her

Sounds like that dealer doesn't think you're a serious buyer and is quoting you a BS number. I've never heard of dealers asking for more than $1,000 deposit on a high-volume vehicle, like a Silverado. I've seen higher deposits on low-volume hard to sell stuff, like a ZR1 Corvette back in the day.

The salesman I recently worked with for my 2019 LTZ was speaking to me about their orders for the new C8's that only required a $1k deposit. Most of which pushed the 100k mark according to him. And a new silverado asking for 3-5k deposit? Pfffft. Eff that noise.

If it were me, I'd def move on to a new place.

Buy off the lot ...

Years ago I ordered a truck. Came in, picked it up.

Driver door color was mismatched.

Turns out it was damaged in transit and they repainted the door.

Needless to say it was nightmare that ended up involving a total repaint of the truck.

So now, I give it a major inspection before I sign paperwork.

ALSO ...  incentives.  You only have access  to deals at delivery.

Hard to when there isn’t anything available one may want. My 2000 I ordered for the heck of it. First new vehicle I ever purchased. My 2010 I ordered because I wanted the 6.2. I ordered my 2019 because I wanted a 6.2 std bed.

I order all my Chevy trucks for that reason alone. I ordered a LTZ in February this year now that took me until May 19 to get because of virus. I order them so I get just what I want. And you need to find another dealer, I not only order my trucks I have the dealer trade my order on a truck they already have allocated to them which helps with the delivery time. I have never giving them a dime down they have my signature. Many of those packages give you things you may not want. I also always order the cheapest wheels and tires I can get knowing I'm changing them for some aftermarket wheels and tires. This one I'm not lifting getting a little older and my wife has enough trouble getting in and out now. My 2020 Chevy Z71-LTZ

The one thing to keep in mind when ordering is that any rebates or special pricing you may qualify for are those that are available when you take delivery, not when you order.  $6k off when you order may only be $1500 off when you take delivery.

That’s not how it worked for me in Canada. When I ordered my 2020 LTZ 1500 crew cab 4x4, the incentives that were available right then were guaranteed. If incentives available when the truck arrived were better, then I could take advantage of that. It did work to my advantage. The incentives were greater when the truck arrived.

But for me ordering out weighs the rebate. They rarely go down. I get what I want and nothing else. My dealer will bend over backward to make me happy. The truck I just got dealer gave me a nice set of Z71 floor mats and 10 free oil changes. My last 2 truck were mid-night editions all black I wanted a change this time . I tried to go RST I just could not get what I wanted without taking what I didn't want for me LTZ was the way to go.
