I'm at the Silverado 1500 Build and Order website. I see the Z71 Off-Road and Protection Package and I also see Diesel Off-Road Package. It looks like you get a lot more with the Z71 with the exception of the Diesel Off-Road Package having 3.73 rear axle ratio. Do I need the 3.73 if I go with the diesel?

Sounds like a good deal but I searched the inventory on the website and apparently there are 0 crew cab standard bed trucks with the Diesel off road package available right now (within 2000 miles) so it's out for me but It seems like people are easily towing their rigs that are near the top of the Diesel half ton weight range and it sounds like the engine handles it all fine so I would say that you don't "need" it.

I doubt there is enough experience out there with the new duramax to get much experienced advice. But having a 6.2/10 I'd go 3.73 in a heartbeat.....so definitely  would with the D.....If your ordering go TrailBoss w Diesel and 3.73 and then you're talking!  ?

3.0 is not an option for both custom and LT trail boss trims unfortunately.
