2020 Silverado 2500 HD 6.6 gas w/6 speed transmission problems

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I got my 2020 2500 HD late last summer and have had several on going issues. After abut 5000 miles the brakes started squeaking and making a horrible moaning sound. Took to dealer and they replaced the pads. Same thing a month later. Dealer replaced pads again. 2 months later same thing. This time dealer said there have been a lot of reports of the same issue. Factory said to replace rotors and pads until a “proper fix” can be found. So far so good. But it’s only been a week. Second issue the transmission makes a loud noticeable clunk when down shifting to low at a stop sign. 1st dealer reset the computer which made no difference. Took to another dealer today and they said that the transmission bolts have to be replaced because they are allowing something to slip when stopping making the clunking noise. He said they have seen this problem recently. Long post but has anyone else experienced these problems? And what else am I in store for? Thanks

I have the same squealing noise, seems to get worse when they get hot. Dealer said they can not duplicate it.

Dealer said It is normal.

Only 6200 miles.

I guess we will battle!

I just bought mine at the end of April. No squeeling brakes yet. I've had what feels like a late down shift when slowing to a stop or gliding around turns. No noise involved, but gives a little shove which makes me feel like an internal action, rather than a loose mount. I've fealt this in a lot of other transmissions and this is my first of this model, so I wasn't really alarmed. The real rest will be a tow next week after I finally get the boat ready for the water.

Same brake issues on my 2020 2500HD which started around 8k miles.  Sounds AWFUL.  Squeeking, moaning and just making my truck sound like a POS when driving around.  Dealer replaced the pads and it started doing the same thing again after only 500 miles.  Have not taken it back yet, but it needs to be resolved ASAP.  Truck does have some strange shifting manners at times, but towing has not shown these issues at all.  Truck tows much better than our last truck with the 6.0L - so we're happy with that.  Anyone notice that it sounds like the spare tire bounces around underneath when hitting large bumps or speed bumps?  Sounds like you have something in the bed of the truck that jumps up and hits the bed again.  How about your center console?  Mine gets jammed shut and will not open without using a screwdriver or knife to wedge it open again.

Funny u should ask. My brake problems were never solved after 4 visits to the dealership. The last time they had a field engineer do the repair. 800 miles later same noises, squealing and moaning. This was in mid September. GM declared my truck a lemon and are replacing it. I am extremely satisfied with how GM handled this. They are trading MSRP TO MSRP.  Only problem is timing. There are no 2020’s out there that dealers were willing to part with so I ordered a 2021. It’s scheduled to be built next week and should have it around thanksgiving if they can get it shipped. When all said and done, I will have to cough up $20 for the 2021 for the MSRP difference. Oh and the transmission has been fine since they replaced the mounting bolts. Once again very happy with GM for taking care of a long time customer.

2020 Silverado 2500 HD with less than 2,500 miles - purchased 2 months ago. It had just come in from the factory the day we bought it. Barely got it back to the dealer before the transmission failed. They couldn't even get it in gear to move it into the bay to take a look at it.

Well I got into my new 2021 a couple of weeks ago and couldn’t be happier with the entire situation. My 2020 was definitely a lemon with the brakes and towards the end, the transmission started sliding forward again when stopping and it had 19,000 miles on it the day I dropped it off at the dealership. GM took care of everything including all fees and taxes. Worse part was the wait to get it built and shipped. At the end of the day, I am a very satisfied GM customer and will continue to buy and drive Chevy.

I am late to the game here but have a 2020 Silverado 2500 I bought in January 2020. I have dealt with the brake issue twice and the second time they finally had the fix. No more speaking. However, I have the transmission clunking between 2 and 3 either on a decelerate around a turn or accelerate around a turn sometimes just decelerating to a stop. Dealer claims they cannot duplicate the issue. I need to take it in and drive with them to feel and hear the issue.

Has anyone been able to find a solution??? Was it the trans bolts??? It is driving me crazy.

Taken it twice for clunking in transmission.. they say it needs to be re programmed.. dealership wants to charge 175.00 because it's out of warranty of bumper to bumper. Only has 50,000 miles. This is a problem.. it sounds like it downshift..
