3 inch lift ride quality question

Recommended Posts

I currently have a 3 inch lift by Superlift on my 2020 1500. The kit came with Bilstein shocks for the back but no replacement for the front. I feel like the ride quality is a bit more rough. I’ve ran a preloaded spacer lift on my last 3 trucks and don’t feel like it has effected the ride quality before. My question is does anyone else have this lift and experienced this or does anyone know of a solution.

I am looking at getting this lift as well. I have the same truck as you but with a 5.3L. I found that the stock suspension is very bouncy. Too soft. Every little ripple in the road and I am bouncing down the road. So when you say it is a bit more rough, can you explain what you mean. How is it different now with the lift.

The way you described it is exactly what I’m experiencing but seems to be from the front. I’m wondering if changing the front shocks would help

See that is what I was thinking. I wonder if changing out the front Rancho's with Eibach at the time I install the lift kit would make for a stiffer ride.  Keeping the Eibach's at stock ride height and let the kit do the lifting.

The both the front and the rear shocks are very soft because the springs are very soft. (For a truck)

Upgrading to bilstein's in the rear is going to tighten up the movement of that soft spring and it's going to take a little bit more input to get it moving initially, and the shock itself is going to help better control the speed of the movements.(slowing it down)

Adding a spacer to the front doesn't do anything to the spring rate or the shock rate.

That's why the front feels too soft.

I personally would tell you to wait for a Bilstein front kit to come out, that way it's matched front to rear.
