What are the most common issues with the 2019-20 Silverado's?

Recommended Posts

Huh, mine doesn't have a vibration, I don't know anyone that has had a vibration with those years of trucks and I have known or met quite a few with them. A small percentage actually had it which is why you have to take issues with a grain of salt, what might seem like a huge problem and you think more than half have them is usually in the low single digit percentage that actually have said issue. People just like to make mountains out of mole hills.

My 14 had it. It is widespread, even has a name, "the chevy shake". I only have 1500 miles on my 2020, but its been flawless and the Dmax/10 speed is awesome imo. The stock ranchos still kinda ride like crap.

I had to lemon law an f150 and moved to gm. I have a 2019 1500 Denali and had lots of problems:

1. Brake communication errors (brakes thankfully didnt actually stop working for me, but have for quite a few people)
2. All safety systems malfunctioning (collision alerts, etc.)
3. Traction control malfunctions
4. Oil leak
5. Weird, whining engine noises under certain conditions accelerating.
6. 3 unique, recurring infotainment issues (blank screen, random volume changes and simultaneously playing two sources and giving me no control).
7. Tons of recalls
8. Probably the most uncomfortable seats I've owned in 12+ vehicles. The seat back us good, but the bottom cushion is extremely firm, and for me at least, cuts off circulation on medium to long drives.

Most of the issues are resolved except for some of the strange accelerating noises, all of the infotainment issues which still happen at least once a day and between those and how much I hate the seats it would be hard for me to recommend.

My company has over 1000 trucks and Ford is the most reliable, that's 1500 and 2500.

For me personally my most reliable has been my 17 Ram 2500, 96k and not one warranty issue, only vehicle over ever owned. My AT4 has had no issues but its only got 1500 miles.

We have had a lot of steering pump issues, t case, and ball joints on our GM trucks. Most rams have transmission issues on the 2500s but the ZF trans is doing much better

What are the most common issues with the new 2019-20 Silverados? I am in the process of a buyback from Ford on a F150 I bought in January.  After this

is complete I will never own another Ford.  I just been doing my research on the new trucks and curious of what issues people may be having or have they

been pretty flawless so far? If I buy another it will probably an LT maybe Trailboss 4wd with the 5.3.  My last silverado was a 2015 and really didn't have many

problems except for the slight vibration they all had.  Thanks

Below Is why I will never buy another Ford LOL

2015 Silverado = Traded in with 53k miles on a new 2017 Ford F250

2017 F250 = Ford bought back due to an engine issue.... since ford took care of me I bought another

2018 F250 = No problems with this truck decided to downsize to a F150 after I sold my camper.  It had 35k miles

2019 F150 =  Bought in Jan 2020 currently has 6k and in the process of a buyback due to rear-end problems they can't fix

I bought a 2020 trial boss in January and already the back window was repaired for leaking issue.. I love the truck hopefully that’s all I ever have to fix

No but the never own another Ford comment is ridiculous for just one vehicle.

All vehicles have issues, some more than others but since 1990 Ford has been the most reliable in our fleet. Theres has been certain years that have had issues but we always avoid first year vehicles and buy in the second year. I also do that with my personal vehicles, or trucks anyway. Wife just randomly decides time to time she wants a new vehicle.

My F150 was a 2011 first year was the 2010, my 14 ram was second year of a refresh and it was a good descion, my AT4 is second year as it's a 20. Right back to my last GM which was on 04. In that era the Chevy had the best interior, I wanted a Cummins but in the end we got the duramax 2500 with every option possible back then. It had its little list of issues much more than any other truck I've owned but i come back around to GM again to give them another go.

I've owned my '19 TB LT for almost a year and a half and put over 26k hard miles on it.

Plethora of recalls (mostly software updates)

Transmission shudder (1/19 build) replaced with the mobil 1 fluid, shudder still occurs occasionally.

Otherwise, that's all I got.

What happened to your Ford? I have test driven both the 3.5L TT F150 and the 3.0L Diesel 1500 and like them both a lot. I thought that the Ford's seemed nice enough though I admit that I prefer the looks of the Chevy and some of the other features.

I've had mine for right at a year and haven't had any issues besides trips to the dealer for recalls. I do watch my back glass like a hawk anytime it rains or I wash the truck. So far, so good.

14,000 miles.

Moral of this story ?
every damn truck has issues. If you have a truck that has no problem , that’s fantastic. But no one makes a perfect truck. They all have issues. From dodge to ford to GM. If someone tell you otherwise , they are homers. And that’s ok every site has homers.

Most of the issues are resolved except for some of the strange accelerating noises

My 6.2 has a noisy compressor during acceleration. My 5.3 kind of does too...

Of course they said they all do it. I’ll worry about it when it breaks I guess.

No vacuum pumps on these at least. I know they were a very common issue on the last gen.

I notice a slight whine occasionally, just assumed it’s the alternator or something.

My AC compressor sounds like alternator whine. Turn the ac off and see if you still here it.
