40k Miles on a 2016 1500 - Strut, A/C and all new TPMS

Recommended Posts

Hey all!

New to the forum, took my truck into the dealership today with AC issues (compressor replacement which luckily they will cover some of it ), 4 bad TPMS Sensors (2nd time replacing them) and some front strut issues.

Luckily I have some help with the cost on the A/c from the dealership so it will run me back about $500 total with a 3 year warranty moving forward.

My big question is what would you guys recommend replacing the OEM struts with? They quoted me $1900 for the front two to be replaced (lol) and I know that its a fairly easy job that I can do myself. Previously I had the dealership install a 2" level kit on the front which I plan to try and retain that height. Hoping I could get into something around 2-400 price range with improved performance. 80% of my driving is street with the other 20% being family camping trips.

Thank you all in advance for your advice!

2 struts for 1900? That is legit robbery. How did they level the truck? If it's a spacer (likely) then you can use any strut you want still. I'd spend the money and get Bilsteins as replacement.

Yeah I just had spacers put in originally! I was leaning toward getting some Bilsteins. Thank you!

How about some more info about your truck?

Is it a Denali with the Magnaride shocks?

Its a 2016 1500 Sierra Denali - No magnaride (thank goodness) 6ft bed.

What brand of shocks did they replace the Magnaride with when it was lifted?

Before everyone jumps on the bandwagon, the beds are 5'8" and 6'6".

2016 Denali has Magneride.  That would explain the struts cost as the dealer's parts department is working off your VIN number when looking up the parts.  If your front and rear struts/shocks are original, they are Magneride.
