Alternate fuel tank - bed mounted

Recommended Posts

So I've got a 2004 Sierra 2500HD and a question.

TL;DR

Fuel tank mysteriously went missing, want to know if a 200l tank thats basically the steel version if a stock one will work, and what kind of work I'm looking at - connected directly to the fuel system of my truck.

Aside for all the work I have planned for adding power options to the base model SL trim, my fuel tank was stolen. Yes, you heard that one right. Left my unit overnight at a Walmart lot as I had ran out of gas, unironically the fuel tank was stolen among other damages. Anyway, for a temporary fix, the 8 foot flat deck my truck has on it has mounts for a 200l gasoline fuel tank. The setup was used on a 1999 Sierra 2500HD extended cab, but I was told that the EVAP and emissions would totally ruin my dreams of a temporary tank until I get a new factory tank. The 200l tank is full steel, pressurized for gasoline, and a fuel pump can be dropped in, just like you would a factory standard tank, except... bigger and, steel.

Anyway... truck is pictured for reference. I just want to know if the setup will work.

Yes, those are dual 3 inch stacks on a gasser. Don't question it. I like it.

Are you sure it's rated for gas?  Because the tanks need more than just support evap emissions.  Nobody seems to be making in-bed gas tanks because they can't afford to do the safety testing as gas is WAY more volatile than diesel.

Why not just score a used tank from a junkyard.  Should be plentiful, cheap, bolt right in, and they are plastic so they don't rust out.
