2020 Elevation De-Badge

Recommended Posts

Wondering if someone could guide a guy towards de-badging my new 2020 elevation.
mainly looking to take the elevation badges off the tail gate, and front doors.. maybe the “Sierra” off the tail gate as well.

TIA!

Those should be stick-on.  I've used 30lb test fishing line to get behind them and saw through the tape,  Use 3M adhesive remover to get the remaining tape off.  The front fender badge does have holes behind it though.

There won’t be holes under the elevation badges or the Sierra lettering eh?

definitely taking that "Sierra" billboard off the tailgate. After the dealership throws their decals on(which better not be on) the truck starts looking like a European hockey jersey in my opinion.

Thanks for the fishing line tip

That was the first thing I did to my Elevation when I brought her home. Used a heat gun, then fishing line, then 3M adhesive remover.

The rear 4x4 badges had a little outline, so I just clay bared it off. Took all the Elevation badges off, the 4x4 badges, the Sierra badge...and of course the dealer sticker and license plate frame!

Nice trucks! I brought home a Satin Steel Elevation about a month ago, and am also thinking about removing the 3 Elevation badges.

Not a fan of the red GMC emblems either, but instead of removing them I’d like to have the grill emblem painted matching satin steel, and do flat black on the tailgate for both the “GMC” and “Sierra”. I know plasti-dip is an option, but I’d love something more permanent so I may reach out to some auto detailing shops for that.

You would be surprised at Plastidip. I dipped my All Terrain badges as well as my GMC badges on my 15 Sierra and it lasted the whole 3 years I owned it without ever fading. I live in Canada where there is extreme cold and heat so that says something about its durability.

As for painting the GMC badges in Satin Steel, I would try to find vinyl wrap that matches the color and just wrap the emblems. Its really easy to do with just a heat gun or blow dryer.

Good to know, thanks. I guess there’s no harm in giving the Plastidip a try. Definitely the cheaper route and supposedly peels off easy if I don’t like it.

I used fishing  line as well...didn’t have a 3m remover. So I used Goo Gone and a thin wide Teflon putty knife so there would be no scratches. I took off the Elevation, Sierra and 4x4 badges. I want black GMC grill and tailgate logos...but the ones GM offers are black and chrome...and I want all black. I did get some black 4x4 logos off eBay though.
