The 3.0 doesn't tow any more than the non max tow 5.3 or 6.2.

The 3.73 is rated the same as the 3.23 as far as towing and economy.

My 3.23 3.0 doesn't engage 10th till 70+mph.

The 3.73 will stress the engine less and multiply torque more allowing it to stay in a more efficient gear much longer.

I avg 30.4 mpg on cruise at 65 and that's in 9th gear!

Don't forget adding larger tires results in a lower effective ratio. Going too low works the engine harder resulting in lower economy.
