And won't disengage!! 1996 Chevy K1500 Silverado 4x4 pickup with 5.7L vortec cruise won't shut off, truck won't shift into OD and stay. Shut the engine off and recranked it and motor revs like you're flooring it. Anyone know what causes this or how to fix it?

Check for binding in the throttle with the engine off. Then disconnect the cruise control cable at the throttle body. Check for binding again. If no binding, start the engine to test. This doesn't fix anything, but might tell you some things.
