Why I Haven't Upgraded or Added to the Fleet

I had a new truck every 2-3 years up to my last new truck 2014 GMC. Mostly due to lots of mileage yearly and the right off. I retired in 2015. I appreciated the ride, wind noise improvements and horsepower of the 14. Messing with the 5.3 with cylinder deactivation was a deal killer for me. Just too much tec. I found a cherry 02 Avalanche. The early 2000s were my favorite body styles . The only tec l miss is blue tooth. That was easily fixed with a blue tooth speaker. Not to mention the 5500$ cost for the truck.

One of my major gripes with newer vehicles is media systems that can't easily be upgraded. Wife's car is a 2016 and the media interface is already a joke; it can't be changed out. In my 2006, I'll be able to just slot in another Kenwood double din when uber ultra mega Bluetooth 20.2 comes out.

I have sat in some newer Silverados, and I think the seat in the LT alone would keep me away. I know it is subjective, but I like the seat in my 2006 a lot more.

Because everybody is entitled to my opinion (joking [emoji3] )

Sounds like your best bet is some aggressive rust repair and some rust prevention to follow
I am actually thinking about that. At this point, it would be new rockers, and new bedsides (as well as skeletonizing the inner fender to prevent future rust, and eliminating spot welds). I hit the frame with POR-15 a few years ago, it still looks great, I would probably take that opportunity to reapply it as well.

The trans still runs ambient +100 on temp, and has given no signs of failing. I have been running a Blackbear 91 tune for over 115,000 miles now and I am impressed with the quality of the tune. It really runs well; the warm weather performance tuned for 91 seems to be significantly better than other Gen 3's I drive.

After nearly 9 years, my bumper is starting to show a few rust spots, so I plan on blasting and repainting it as soon as I can get my hands on masks and respirator cartridges again.

Sounds like you take great care of your rig, and it shows. Well done!

Yeah man, new vehicle is nice, but if you like what you have, and repairs are reasonable, makes sense to spruce up what you got and keep enjoying it. They do go forever.
