Bad module upon delivery with no parts available

Recommended Posts

I picked up a new 2500HD Denali last Friday.  When I got the truck home I realized that the backup camera wasn't working.  Further investigation found that the blind spot indicators were also not working and I suspect there were other sensors not working as well but I hadn't driven the truck enough to find them.  If I clicked the icon for cameras on the infotainment screen it did absolutely nothing.  I called the dealer Monday morning and made an appointment for this morning.  They found a bad module that was causing the problem and put me in a loaner Acadia.  They said there isn't a local replacement available so they are waiting until they find one.  I get the part availability issue as I am a GM employee and I am familiar with the process but it pisses me off to no end that I have a brand new truck that listed for $70K and has a purpose beyond getting from point A to point B and I was given an SUV that costs half as much and is worthless to me other than people movement.  This issue should have been found at Flint first and at the very least the dealership should have found it.  Now I wait an undetermined amount of time for the part.  The dealership said it could be a few days or even months.  I do have some resources and contacts available to me as an employee that I am hoping can help.  If I weren't an employee though this would be much more difficult to swallow.

i would tell them to pull a working module from one of the trucks on the lot and send you on your way :)

^^^^^^^^^^ What he said!!!!

I used to be a parts guy at a G.M. dealership a very long time ago. This was done on a regular basis. Better to keep customer happy than waiting. The tech would pull the part and then I would place the order for the replacement to be installed in the lot vehicle when ever it came in.
