2020 Silverado 2500HD LT Trim: 7 pin truck bed wiring harness

Recommended Posts

We just purchased the 2020 LT Silverardo and in the driver's side back of the truck bed is a blank. I believe this blank is for a 7 pin / 4 pin connector for fifth wheel towing. I am starting to prep my truck for a fifth wheel and have been looking at Amazon for after market connectors. I am positive this bed blank is for the 7pin connector on trucks equipped from GM. I would like to find that part to buy and install on my LT because I do not want to drill a new hole in my bed if not necessary. I have looked for the OEM wiring harness extension all morning with no luck. Anyone have an idea on the part I would need to add a 7pin connector for trailer hookup using this blank?

The GM part number that fits that cutout perfectly is 23404450.  The plug & play wiring harness is sold by Curt Trailer Hitch people.  I just completed this project on my 2020 2500HD.

To do this as factory as possible you need the 3 following parts.

  • Trailer receptacle 84056018
  • Wiring harness extension 84663240
  • Wiring harness 84670050

If your truck has RPO code UY2 camper harness provisions, you might not need the last one but you'd have to run your vehicle build to see if its got that or not.

  • 1 year later...

Well I purchased this(haven't received it yet), because part # checked out and I've used it a couple times before with previous trucks.  Got my truck yesterday and realized there is this 'plug' back there where I would normally install.  Can I still use this spot within curt part #  or can I order something else to make it work. Rather than returning and buying something different.  I Like this because it's plug and play simply drill a hole. But don't want to drill another hole if there's already a spot from factory to utilize...

Does anyone know if this...

https://www.amazon.ca/Hopkins-40975-Multi-Tow-Simple-Wiring/dp/B001NYYREC/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=41144+hopkins&qid=1622508610&sprefix=41144&sr=8-4

Would plug in to the CURT plug n play wiring kit in my previous post?

Basically. Anyone know if the plugs are universal and I could just take the single plug off the curt and use the OEM style 4 pin / 7 pin on the Hopkins instead in the place of the factory plug in my bed?
