OBD2 Bluetooth Engine monitor 2020 1500 5.3 6 speed

Recommended Posts

Im looking to get a little more engine monitoring on my 2020 1500 custom trail boss. 5.3L with the 6 speed.

I hooked up my old edge monitor to the obd2 port and only about 50% of the gauges would work.  I updated the software and reset the device.  Made sure Chevy was selected and still only about 50% of the gauges worked.  This is the older Edge unit.

Has anyone found a obd2 device that actually communicates with these trucks?  I would love one that's bluetooth with an app on my phone or iPad to show the gauges.

Thanks in Advance.

Can you tell me which monitors do not work that you would like to see?   I have a GMC 1500 Sierra with an OBD2 Bluetooth connection that i could connect and check mine to see if they work.

My scanner is a cheap wifi OBD2 from Amazon that i bought to clear codes on my Grand Cherokee but i could connect it to try and see if it works.

EDIT - Also - what OBD2 app are you using?   can

you try another app if possible?

i have not tried the bluetooth devices or any apps.  Just an old Edge monitor that plugs directly into the obd2.  It was leftover from an older truck.  Thats good news about some of you having good luck with the bluetooth ones, and phone apps.

Mostly looking for trans gear and temp.  I do have temp on the DIC but I have the custom level trim so I have the basic trans temp.

Anyone using iPhone or I pad and what app?

I do not use Apple products so i am unable to help you there.

Torque is my goto app - see side by side comparisons for two apps on the link below.  You might want to try obdfusion for apple or better yet, get a cheap android device like a kindle 7 inch for 50 bucks and use Torque.

the ELM327 is low profile design and wont get bumped , just get a pawn shop tablet with Android OS with a quad processor for $30, even amazon sells refurb tablets cheap

torque lite if free, and about $5-10 for the full version
