Thinking of a new truck

Recommended Posts

First off I like to thank the brave men and women who are still working at this moment in various job fields. What you are doing is amazing.

This has a lot of questions so I do apologize and yes I have Googled some of them. Anyways, I have owned trucks in the past. Currently I have car. I been thinking of replacing it and saw 0% for 84 on some GM vehicles. Week ago I test drove Buick but was not impressed.

I am thinking of getting a pickup. The Colorado/Canyon does not have 0% for 84. I notice the Silverado/Sierra does. Also the price for both over lap. However the Colorado/Canyon come in Bas/SL trim. The Silverado/Sierra come in WT. I would prefer a Sierra but I notice more Chevys are available  the way I would wan them. I would like a non white, but not paying extra for paint regular cab, vinyl interior. I notice th regular cabs only come in W/T trims in the USA. Also they only come in 8 foot beds. Also I know I have to take what dealers have because production is stopping. I don't really need a pickup, it is more of a want. There will be more questions but that is enough for now. What is everyone's two cents? If this is the wrong forum for this I am sorry.

I'd find it odd the GM dont have a single cab short box, considering you may not be into the latest and greatest Ram still sells the previous generation truck with some hefty discounts and it's looking like the ram may take on ford in truck sales. Ram does offer a single cab with 6.4 bed and it's a fun sport truck.

If you want something small then a Toyota Tocoma is the way to go, I'm not a fan of the new coloroda or rangers. Also the tocoma will hold value way better and they are unbelievably reliable trucks.

I'm not sure if you even asked a question yet though?

You listed some of your wants and facts but what else do you have a question about.

If the single cab long box is something that pleases you, go for it. They sell the WT single cabs with some packages to get you the V8 engine and even 4X4 along with better interior features like good seats, cruise control and steering wheel controls, power locks/windows.

If you are in a position to buy a truck and want one, buy one.

Find a good dealer, one that will dealer trade for the truck you really want from another dealer, don't settle, you will find issues with what you purchased.

If you are a homeowner, a truck is the best "tool" you can have in the garage, you will always find a use for it.

I love the Tacoma but it has 1.9 for 60.  GM has 0 for 84.

The Ram does have 0 for 84.  Not sure how hard it is to find a regular cab ram. Didn't see to many online.

Well if you don’t want a long box, then you’re getting either a double cab or a crew cab. Or an F150. Or a Ram. Either way, regular cab short beds aren’t something that most, if any, dealers stock.

I would recommend at least considering a double cab. A little more interior space/ dry storage in a pickup isn’t a bad thing to have. Not like you’re giving up bed length to get it if you don’t want an 8’ box anyway.

The other thing is, if you have no use for a truck, you’re literally paying more for less vs a sedan or SUV.

Two local dealers here have between 4-6 in stock.

They are WT models with either the 4.3 or 5.3.

I was just looking at the prices and you can get a 4.3 version with no real options for $23,000ish before tax. The V8 add a few grand. Kinda surprised how cheap they are with some of the discounts offered.

I had two regular cab short box trucks in the past.  Nice trucks but can't store anything in the cab.  You would need at least a tonal cover for storage in the back for overnite storage.

Other then that I like the looks of a short box regular cab.  One salesman said that they have poor resale because there is no market for them.

My local Chevy dealer has a few regular cabs.  Local GMC dealer does not.  Chevy regular cabs are only in WT trim.   My local dealer has one in a color other then white.   Only option is a hitch and wiring option.    On a regular cab is it a one peace bench or slit bench?  Is there an arm rest with storage?

The single cab will have the center jump seat with your cup holders and stuff. The WT won't have the center storage though as far as I am aware.

You can go on the Chevy website to build your own truck, this way it lets you see all the option a single cab truck could have.
