Seriously? Truck checks your boxes, does what you need and so forth but a phone app will have you switch brands? Good luck with that, the grass isn't always greener.

What people feel entitled to these days is astounding. I have seen people say they won't buy a vehicle because it doesn't have LED taillights or homelink, now a phone app...

Yes, considering this functionality is included in all of the other major manufacturers and it's a useful feature. I'm not talking about LED tailights that I don't see. I work at a large office building in a northern climate. It's nice to be able to warm up my truck without having to go down 4 flights of stairs and walk halfway across the parking lot when it's 10 below. Do I use it ALL the time and can I live without it? Sure. But it's a $40k truck and it's been included for 6+ years and 2 trucks for me. To find it gone is pretty shitty, what if they suddenly removed keyfobs and you had to put the key in to start it again, would you just put your shoulders up then too tough guy?

Well yeah it’s offered but also at a cost, albeit sometimes cheaper. Fords is $49 for the year. Now I don’t know if it has the same features/functionality as GM but...

Maybe it's since changed...but my dad has a 2018 F150, my mom a 2019 Escape and both have remote start/lock/unlock included via app with no extra charge.

Or maybe they’re paying for it and don’t know [emoji51]

Oh thats BS that was one of my favorite features on my 17 3500 and was looking forward to having it again. I even used that to counter buddies arguments for the door codes on fords. Was really nice when someone needed something out of my pickup or what not when i wasn't around or when coming home to switch rigs when it was -20. Start the truck on my way home and it would be warm by the time I got there. Anyone know how long ford includes?

I'm with you man, take away the automatic tailgate that doesn't work with a Tonneau cover anyway. The whole, going backwards in features is baffling. It'd be like if they suddenly brought back hand crank windows and keyed start.

This would never push me away from a brand, especially since the remote seems more than enough. However, the price is just too much for that feature. If it were $2-$5 a month, I would sign up in a heartbeat. Could be a similar structure to Apple's cloud storage - I have 0 problems paying $0.99 to get 50gb of storage.

I'm mostly with you. If it was cheaper, I'd probably buy it. But $15 a month is criminal for something that used to be free. Like you said, $1 a month, whatever, Can I buy 5 years now? But, that's over $800 throughout the length of my lease. That's silly.

I'm planning on going EV once this lease is up, I'll very likely be looking at other manufacturers if this isn't back to standard by then. I assume Chevy will have an electric by then so we'll see. This is the one feature I actually DO use, pretty religiously.

They changed that in summer of 2017 when the 18”s where coming out. 17 was the last model year that had the free 5 years. Doesn’t bother me really I don’t use it much and personally the less connected to onstar probably the better lol.

One of the benefits of this (with onstar) though is knowing when your vehicle is driven. You can check up on it whenever you want and prove that dealerships are lying when they say the tech is “about to take your vehicle for a test drive”. You can see that it’s still sitting in the same spot it’s been in since Saturday morning.

I agree it does suck but my brother in law pays like 8 or 9 bucks a month for “Ram Connect” or something like that in order to start his truck from his phone.

Is there a way you can just pay for the winter months? In your case where you use it daily in the winter I’d say it’s worth the extra $15 a month but I do agree it’s a garbage way to nickel and dime their customers.
