Has anyone ever heard of the 2020 GM certificate offer?

Recommended Posts

I was looking at TrueCar today and in the incentives area for the 1500 there is a "GM certificate offer". I looked all over the Chevy website and tried to use my Googling skills to find something about this but I haven't even so much as seen it mentioned anywhere. Does anyone know what it is and if it is available to anyone?Capture.PNG.a3c2d6cb62f5bfeece23007a464990c0.PNG

Just a guess.  But when I was shopping for my Camaro (2013), Chevrolet often had $1000 certificates for select models in select areas, usually towards the end of the month to increase sales.  These were provided via a popup on the website (similar to the survey that pops up).

Yeah, I've seen people mention those on old forums but I haven't seen a recent post in the last few years where people have gotten one. Maybe they are coming back and TrueCar screwed the pooch by listing it too early?

I used one of the "pop ups" on my 16.

Back then you could "give" them to anyone, so I received mine from a member on the site here.

Maybe check the Chevy website every once in a while to see if they are doing the same again.

It was a direct mailing to random individuals.  Kind of like when you receive brochures from GM showing you current promotional offers.  This particular one had a certificate number on it.

Also dealers have certificates that they can use at their discretion to assist with sales. A buddy of mine was a manager at a large dealer and helped me out of a jam a couple years ago with them. It was the end of the month and he used his last 2 on my truck to get a certain inventory sold number accomplished.

Usually these are sent or available to owners of a competing brand and may be exclusive to select dealers in certain geographical areas due to competition.  It requires dealer participation in the special program (sell and stock the vehicles in the program) and it may require the dealer to earn them with prior sales etc.

20-40CE-2: Mustang Competitive Cash $2.000

1 Exclusive Berger discount. All customers qualify.
2 Not available with special financing, lease and some other offers. Must take new retail delivery by 03/31/2020.
3 Must be a current owner or lessee of a Ford Mustang for at least 30 days prior to the new vehicle sale and purchase a new Camaro. Customer remains responsible for current lease payments. Not available with some other offers. Must take new retail delivery by 03/31/2020.

PS -  I got something like that from RAM in the mail last year as incentive to get me to switch brands. I think there was also small $50 Visa gift card incentive for coming in for a test drive.
