Black or Chrome piece on the hood in front of the scoop

Recommended Posts

I have a 3500 AT4, and I'm wanting to paint that piece above the grill in the same as the body color. (On a Denali, this piece is chrome).

This is above the grill - it's the same width as the grill but it's attached to the hood. Almost like an old-school "bug deflector."

I saw a picture of a truck with a wrap on it, and I think it looks way better with that part being body color (feel free to disagree.)

I went by my local paint shop, and they quoted me $585 which is triple what I wanted to spend and thought it would be.

Anyone ever ship off a part and have it wrapped? Seems like a good alternative.

Also, despite looking several times, I can find the part that's the hood, but not that specific part that's bolted on the front there.

I had the nose you speak of painted as well as the grille trim and door handles all for $500. I couldnt find the proper color match wrap for mine. I ended up buying those parts in black for a better paint job. Chrome doesn't paint too well. I can dig up the hood nose part number if needed. If yours is black, and is going to be painted, I wouldn't waste your money buying another. Just remove it and have it painted by another shop that's way more reasonable. It's easy to remove and will only be off the truck for a day. f956a6f854cc1b32592302dd16dca933.jpg

I found the part number but I believe it only comes in chrome. Do you have ethe part number for it in black

I second this request please. Also, do you have the door handle part numbers?

Very good advice thanks. Also looks great with that piece painted, as expected!

Jealous of the blue  - looks fantastic.

Thank you. I dig the color too!

The part numbers are as follow:

84686648 - Hood Nose Molding

13526767 - handle kit  - quantity 2

13526766 - handle kit  - quantity 2

84496227 - Handle bezel with key hole - Quantity 1

84496193 - Handle bezel - Quantity 3

The hood nose is black and the handles are primed and ready for paint.

Unfortunately, you need to buy the whole handle kit. It would be nice if they just offered the covers only. When installing, just pop the old covers off, and snap on the newly painted covers. In order to replace the entire handle, you would need to remove the interior door panels to get to the plug. That's why I suggest installing the new covers over the existing handle housing.

I can verify that part number - it was on a sticker on the back of the part.

It was not super easy to get that part off. Besides the 8mm deep socket, and all the clips, there are two screws just in front of, but under, the hood air intake. I could not get the intake off, because you need a super-deep (like 4") socket to get it off there.

So I wound up lifting the air intake by hand and taking the screws out. Not horrible but not great either.

Dropped the part off yesterday. Reminded them that the whole thing pretty much needs to be painted - the edges and bottom are visible.

Got the part back on today. I love it - I'm sure some won't because I've changed the signature looks of the AT4.

It's mine now!

I see you're in Colorado.  Mind if I ask who did the paint?

It looks great!  Way way better than stock!

the broomfield location. Spent about double what I thought it would be but I didn’t shop around and they have done a ton of other work for me.
