What Do You Think of the 2020 Titan?

Recommended Posts

I always shopped price. As far as screen size I’m looking at the road. I’m more concerned about steering wheel buttons. Maybe that’s why I’ve only had three accidents in over 40 driving years. All no fault. Reminds of my last new vehicle purchase. All the salesman would talk about was CarPlay. I told him I could careless. He looked at me as if I came from Mars.

A few years back Nissan had a big issue with a few of their motors, it was catastrophic engine failure due to premature wear on piston rings.   I don't think they ever did anything about it for consumers other than to advise to keep adding oil??  Besides, I thought only the General, Ford and Dodge made trucks.  ?

A co-worker of mine had this happen to them, I think it was a Pathfinder.  Nissan didn't do anything for them.

Saying Nissan dealers suck is like saying all Applebees or all Olive Garden etc restaurants service sucks.  A lot depends on the store manager to the server to the cook and so on at each individual restaurant, a dealership isn't a lot different.   And for what it's worth, it's hard to give an honest opinion of how GM takes cares of their customers.  GM will go through a phase of doing a lot of good will repairs or paying a large portion of an out of warranty repair, then go through a stingy phase of not helping much at all.  GM used to give the dealership complete empowerment over out of warranty repairs, now the dealership has very very little empowerment.  A form for each out of warranty repair has to be submitted before hand and  percentage of the cost of the repair GM will take care of is spit back out.

Was that on the 5.6 or the really unreliable Cummins in the XD?

Edit: question retracted. I just saw the other comment about it affecting the Pathfinder too.

All full size trucks outsold Titan so your point? I'll keep my T1 you can keep the K2 Shakerado. Or, get the worst selling truck. So why not?

Spoken like ANOTHER insecure bitter T1 driver.  You shouldn't take it so personally.  I'm glad you like my "so why not" comment.

It's all good bud no worries lol. I love my T1 and have gotten countless compliments on it.  I really feel for those having issues with their trucks (and I read the many threads on them) especially paying so much money for these.   I've had my RST since March 2019 and have not had any problems with it.  My 2014 SLT had issues, my 2015 Sierra had issues and my 2016 Silverado had some.  I've had many many new trucks through the years and this T1 is the best truck I've ever owned in the ECM/BCM era of trucks.  My '85 Silverado purchased new was a good one but a totally different beast compared to today's trucks.  Anyway, if you're K2 is not giving you problems then great but, I'm sure you won't keep it forever and you may be in a T1 one day lol. "So why not" ??

But whoever that person is, you have to listen to their stories, too, or they're not gonna go to Applebee's with you. You're not gonna have someone to go to Applebee's with. You'll be sitting by yourself, eventually, at Applebee's, all alone. And who wants to go to Applebee's by themselves? Sorry i had to!!!

The 2004 Titan was pretty groundbreaking and pushed the manufacturers to bring us a lot of the features we have today. The Titan was the first to offer a factory spray-in bedliner, dampened tailgate, utilitrack tie down system, selectable locking rear diff, awesome 5 speed auto (when everyone was still on 4 speeds) and stout 5.6 standard.

Nissan truly let it die. The 2016 redesign offered literally no innovations that the other brands didnt have. It was middle of the road in every category. This 2020 mid cycle refresh is a lot better, but still is not class leading in any category. It's just up to par now with the other 1/2 ton offerings.

Well believe it or not I may just end up in a 2021 truck.  My lease on this thing is up in April 21.  I kinda just want to buy this lease out, then mess with it a bit more, get a real tune...  It's one of my favorite vehicles I've owned.  I actually liked the looks of my leased 15 LTZ with chrome 20's and a bunch of chrome, if it would have had the 6.2 I would have bought that one.  I thought my current LTZ Z71 Redline kinda looked like a work truck. But, believe it or not a lot of people like the way this thing looks.  I always question them, wondering why even old people like the look, of black wheels and no chrome...oh well.

If I do get a new one, it will be a grey RST 6.2 with light colored leather buckets a sunroof with 20s and putting on a 2" front lift-not that I've thought about it much.   One is actually on order for me now, if I don't want it, dealer will just put it on lot.  With current rebates, I can get out of this lease and lease  a new one mentioned cheaper than I'm leasing current truck, but I really like this truck, so...….

I won't even get involved with the fact that the dealership I work for also owns a Ford dealership.

I hear ya.  I'm one for chrome.  There's several younger guys here who have recently removed their black wheels for chrome.  I'm 55 and always liked chrome. My 2 Harleys are chromed out.  I added chrome 22's on my RST and an LTZ grille to break up some of the all blue color keyed front end.  I think it has a good balance now of paint and chrome.  Anyway,  I wish you luck on your new '20/'21 and hope it doesn't give you problems.  Post a pic when you get it.  So why not? ?

The Tacoma says hi. With about 15-20k units sold a month. That’s about what the GM mid size twins/and ford ranger combined sell. I know this is about full size but other food trucks are being made outside of the big 3. Most of us here just love our GM trucks.

Tacoma kills it in sales, I think I see more of those than anything else.....and had one way back before they were even called tacomas…..actually I had 2 of em

To me it's interesting that Nissan is at least trying. I considered the prev gen Titan, as well as the Tundra before I bought my current Sierra(2017)

However, here are some of the issues for me- cost when new, getting parts at a reasonable price, aftermarket support and fuel econ. With the big 3 you can get any wear items cheap, due to the volume of trucks made. There is also lots of aftermarket goodies avail for them.
The Tundra is like paying for 2 trucks due to its up front cost and horrible fuel econ. Toyota should be embarrassed at the shitty mileage their trucks get.
The Nissan seemed nice, but expensive and I didn't want to pay a fortune for brakes etc, because I could only get parts at the dealer. I knew that there wouldn't be near as much aftermarket support either, because it's a low volume truck.
It's all good because my Sierra has been a really good truck.
