Your vehicle, 14k miles would never happen.

Vic Firth is using a special oil to see if he could clean a Ford EcoBoost which is Ford for carbon baby maker.  LOL

These engines are a mess but no one really knows it because they have a lot of reserve power.

14k miles on HPL No VII Euro 5w30.  My question is, if the virgin oxidation value starts at 23 for this oil, but is now 48, is that a problem or sign of oxidation?  I have noticed that Amsoil's virgin oxidation number doesn't change much from virgin to new.

Are we sure the Ox value of the new oil was 23? Same lot?? or a random number off the Internet....... These guys tweak allot.

IMHO that was way too long a run for this oil. What lab is this? Is fuel GC or a flash cup estimate.

Yeah one thing I've been noticing with HPL is the used oil oxidation value jumps up compared to the virgin.  HPL oils have a virgin oxidation value of 23-27.  I'm not sure if this is a concern or not.

Only if it gets out of hand. Opinion varies on what constitutes out of hand. I'm very conservative and would never allow an oil to reach the stage this sample did. Others won't bat an eye. :dunno:

I don't blame you.  Oil is cheap, engines are not.

Go to 8 minutes in this video above and hang with it for 2.5 minutes. You can do 2.5 minutes, right? Tell me something Roger says I haven't said for years.  Hint: T1 & T2.

Go to 2 minutes into the video and listen....at 3:45 seconds lean in. What's that AMSOIL? You can quit by 4:30.

Jump back in at 11 minutes to 20 minutes. Note the results in just 90 hours (4,000 miles in caption).

Those are highlights. Watch it all for the nuts and bolts.

Esters work 😉 The issue he talks about in that they clear aggressively (CUMMINS RESTORE) which can plug filter and cause issues....ISN'T an issue if there is nothing to remove. That is.... you've used it from the beginning.

BTW that motor in the IIIH test is running about 50% load at 3900 rpm for 90 hours.

One question, do shorter OCI's prevent ring problems, carbon problems? This product could be avoided simply by doing more frequent oil changes, yes?

Yes! But no one wants to hear that. I know this because I've said it for YEARS now.

Nucleation and growth. More frequent changes stop the second.

My mind was. I don’t go over 5K now. If I was just doing interstate I would go 7K only on certain vehicles. That list is shrinking.

I have said it here many time and done it for over 50 years without an issue. Brother in-law follows the same agenda without issues.

I know you are aware we live in a world were facts matter little and chaos rules over truth.

Chaos with oil starts with the false premise then all oil is just oil. It ends with the idea that an exception IS the rule. Absolutely service matters.

*****************************************************

The discussion on T1 & T2 in the video lays out the facts. Not all oil is 'just oil'. The exception is not a rule, it's an exception. Ignorance of facts create chaos and confusion. Oil companies, OEMs and EPA love confusion and chaos when it promotes an agenda. There is no shortage of minions to propagate it. Even allot of well education minions.

Continue to follow the chemistry/physics/science/common sense and leave the theater to actors and poly-tish'ns.

You are both on solid ground. Oily but solid. 😉
