During the crisis

400K I’ve been watching and reading everything. CNN doesn’t even say that. If that was even close the military would already be setting up temporary hospitals.

also here is the CDC estimate.  They estimate on low 200,000 to high 1,700,000 deaths domestically from COVID19, they have 4 scenarios with that range.  The 480,000 is in the moderate scenario.

It's a great point you make.  What I've come to realize, so many folks, they do not have the ability to comprehend things beyond a 2ft radius of their own small world.  It's both selfish and a reflection of what makes those same folks dumb as a doorknob.  The common things you'll find, they compare this to the regular flu #s and how in comparison it doesn't seem so bad (yet), jokes about toilet paper, people taking selfies at empty movie theaters (where they shouldn't be right now in the first place).  Redkneck logic is funny over a beer, but it won't do you much good in a medical crisis.

This pandemic has spread across the entire globe in a few short weeks.  It has infected thousands here in the US in a few short days.  There is no vaccine to prevent it and no medical cure for those that do get it.  Only option is to ride it out.  If they're elderly, there is a very high probability they'll die from it.  Those that do get sick, in about a week from now, there won't be hardly any hospital beds available, they'll sit for days in a cue waiting for medical attention, at some point hospitals will be turning folks away.

normal flu spreads like wildfire too...how do you think everyone gets sick every year.....its just not documented nor has media hype.....

there is no cure for it either, and vaccination is shot of the flu to boost your immune system....if you don't have an immune system to boost or that can fight it off than you ride it out....if you have other issues and are weak it can be lethal like anything else....

What I've heard about the COVID19 Disease is that it lasts in the air for 3 hours, and on surfaces for days.  The comparison to the regular flu is similar in the transmission of "how" but not in the disease itself.  Because of the 3 hours hanging in the air, and days on surfaces (think about standing in line for something, someone at the front of the line with COVID19 sneezes.  You eventually get to the front of the line, 30 minutes later, 1 hour later, and you get it, the disease transmits to you.  The COVID19 transmission is much more "easily and sustainable"  It's not the every day flu or common cold here. I believe that's why the CDC estimates are so high, instead of 3-11% of the population like the annual flu, the projections are more like 30% to 45%, they are saying 10x to 15x worse here.

In any case, I digress, not here to argue facts.  If you don't agree with any of the previous sharing info and want to minimize it  - have at it.  Cheers!

well ive kicked heroin a few times and so far no flu comes close to that....I am 52 now so no spring chicken

I just use common sense bro and history that's all.....we allow so much crap in society that kills hundreds of  thousands of people and we know it will but all is good.....government taxes the shit out of it allows glorification of it but still damage is done...we are likely to end up in the dirt by tobacco, drunk driver, something in our food, a medication we take, walking across the street, or any of the other million things including driving our brand new trucks which is why we are even on this forum....

Ive traveled to countries they said absolutely do not go to  and felt safe, was in midst of SARS epidemic in Taiwan...Indonesia during muslim wars,

i have done most things i was told not to do....but now i do things a bit differently

but i have learned the media is mostly full of shit.....I respect your beliefs and wishes and this will be end of virus discussion

Amen. This is nothing but the media high on their soap box about controlling the sheep. Get bent. Influenza has been around far longer and killed more people and will continue to kill more people than this bullshit virus has and will kill world wide. Open your eyes. Elderly patients who are immunosupressed are at a greater risk of mortality for any sort of viral or bacterial infection, no matter what it is.

Humans in general are terrible at assessing risk, and you see a lot evidence of that in this thread alone. We are happy to ignore familiar threats and risky behaviors if the short term gratification is too appealing to resist. On the other hand, we find ourselves being brought to panic over something like COVID...something that poses a relatively small risk of death or lasting harm to most people.

Part of that is it being relatively new and unknown as far as viruses go. Part of that is the media hype and unending news cycle. I hope at some point we can find some balance in our response to this. The virus can be dangerous, but so can panic, desperation and irrational behavior.

As I understand it, you really really need to have top tier 100% perfect credit.

Nevermind that though...taking on a 7 year loan in this environment seems like a really bad idea. Plus, if someone buys one now, how are they gonna take it in for the inevitable rear window leak a week later when we are all under quarantine! ?

The cure at this point is by far worse than the disease. We’ve shut down everything, hoarded an insane amount of toilet paper and caused financial hardship and devastation to millions of Americans over 3800 cases and 80 deaths.

At some point we need to ask ourselves if this isolation strategy is even going to be effective, let alone worth the extreme trade offs it is having on our quality of life and finances. Maybe this is the right call, shutting everything down. Maybe it isn’t. I don’t know and nobody else here on the forum does either.

All I know is it’s made people absolutely insane and appears to be an unprecedented reaction to something that is nowhere near as deadly as polio, H1N1, etc.

Who knows, but it's worth mention that most of what is happening with the financial impacts (now) are Round 1 in the stock market are more based on global affairs.  Yes, lot's of closures and hoarding going on right now locally, shelves empty, etc, but that  31.33% decline in the DJIA, and declines in the Dow Futures and S&P 500, etc. are reverberations due to the collapse of markets in Asia as well as collapse of Oil Futures (Brent). None of that was triggered domestically. Saudia Arabia is hammering us with low prices which hit the market very very hard.  Sad to say, the folks out buying up the shelves at Wal-Mart and Target don't even own any stock/401Ks.  This is not a national media induced event with regards to the stock market - as it stands today.

Round 2 of the market (crash) is going to be in April and May when the more local stuff (closed businesses, cancelled flights, etc) loss of revenues and companies cannot pay their corporate debts, they'll start slashing jobs, and that tends to hit the stock market real hard.   There is something like $10 Trillion in Corporate Debt right now, representing nearly 50% of the US economy.  Domestic Corporations are highly leveraged in debt and they've taken on much more (2x the debt) as what we had in the financial meltdown going back to 2008 Recession.

Well I signed the papers on my 2020 TB LT Friday. Ended up with 2.69% on the remainder of the amount after my Tacoma trade. And I came in 14.5k under msrp. I contemplated waiting but I would be really surprised if amidst this the dealer would still pay TOP dollar for my tacoma. I’m not upset about pulling the trigger when I did.

Now to just wait it out and see what happens.
