Yes, I was. So I assume your plan would to be suspend life as we knew it for the next year and half and wait for a Vaccine? Sorry, but that isn't realistic for REAL people.  You must come from the standpoint of having no financial worry which is great for you. And it should also be your choice to stay at home for the next year and half, not mandated. People aren't even allowed to run lawn mowing crew that don't come in contact with any people, but everyone is allowed to flock to the same grocery store. I'm sure you have a chart of numbers that would somehow make that sound coherent also. As for social distancing, no one will ever be able to tell us what if any impact this would have had with it because it wasn't done. We do however know what happens when people don't work or have the ability to live life. Domestic abuse, mental health suicide, drug/alcohol overdoses, financial ruin, the list goes on and on. These things are and will continue to happen as a result of people struggling. a $1,200 check and extra unemployment aren't going to fix that. The only labor jobs left will to be a slave for Amazon or a like company. You have a nice day also!

You may assume as you please but you would be wrong in your conclusion. I don't have an answer for an exist plan. There are some things that are self evident however.

What I highlighted I don't even know how to respond to.

What/who was I responding to and what did I offer the graph in proof of?

You can't respond, because you have no proof of the outcome being different if we had done something different. No one does, its not even an argument. But like I said you can stay locked in your house forever for all I care. Everyone should have the freedom to take whatever risks they seem fit for their lives.

I'll agree your not presenting a rational argument. (see below).

This is a lie. Rationality does not spring from a lie. Until you return to rational we can't have an exchange.

Yes there is if you look close. New York got semi blind sided. Yes some city leaders encourage going out at first. You’re seeing the results. Keep an eye on Houston. They shut down almost immediately. Everything is in slow motion. We will be able to see soon what works better. Will New York have herd immunity? Will Houston experience the effects of New York when we open up? We are seeing both ways at work before our eyes. New York didn’t need 30K ventilators. Their numbers are dropping. Doing nothing initially was New York’s first couple weeks was evident. Houston’s doing something is yet to be determined.

IMO

This thread is as bad as watching TV.

No one knows what the outcome will be and no one can predict the outcome with reasonable accuracy.

As I said experts my a##.

We will know the facts down the road and that's if you choose to believe what they say.

Typical elite type attitude that regular people have grown tired of. It's not rational because you said so? You are so incredibly self absorbed.

The only way to truly know is if we turned back the hands of time and restarted all of this, which is obviously not possible. I'm not saying it wouldn't have been worse, but we will truly never know. All the graphs and models are at best educated guesses.

Proverbs 22:3

Young's Literal Translation
The prudent hath seen the evil, and is hidden, And the simple have passed on, and are punished.

Social distancing is not new. Lepers under the Law that God provided Moses had to social distance. Anyone touching a leper was isolated. Anyone intentionally ignoring the law was cut off. That's how serious God wanted them to be.

IF our maker told us it works then I will believe him. He is an EXPERT.

I’m from the let it rip camp. I’m bold enough to say that. The reason. Isolate the weak and old. We saw with New York what our government can do in a pinch. New Orleans did the same as New York and now the government is helping them out. Seeing that the rest of us would take precautions. The run on groceries wouldn’t have happened. Our economy wouldn’t have suffered nearly as much. Where did the spring breakers go? Who are they infecting? Their parents, grandparents? What about herd immunity? I don’t believe hiding will do much but prolong this bug. I’m close to the Houston area. I be able to see how the hiding is going to work or not. I think more people have been infected than the sick. We’ll see.

This is a lie. It most certainly was done. Schools closed. Business shut down. Restaurants. Parks.

Until you return to rationality we are done here.

I'm with you on that approach, especially when a vaccine is nowhere in sight. The only thing to fear is fear itself. Less than 1% are dying. We have never made such drastic decision based on such a low %. We take greater risks in everything we do every single day. Life has never been and will never be without risk. We do know that the economic consequences are real and will be with us for years to come.

KARNUT, I think you’ll enjoy this article. It’s pretty much where I’m at too.
