When this all started some of the experts said it wasn’t a problem for the US. Then it was. Then the focus was on California and Washington state the epicenter. It quickly went to New York. Some say California has been exposed early and it ran it course. Como, Fauci and others started slinging these wild numbers. The very next day the revision started coming. Now after all this shut down their saying probably 50-70 percent are carriers don’t know they have it. The shut down effectiveness will be known once the improved test are put into use. Like hurricane season cat five as it approaches, loses its punch as it comes in. Most people did what was requested and are doing so still. I hope financial ruin isn’t their reward.

Funny how this researcher doesnt bring up the point that these deaths could be going to the covid count, but then again, look at the source. They would never allow that assumption...

Here's my take.  Without the stay at home orders and steps that have been taken to curb the spread of the virus, we would have more U.S. cities experiencing what NYC has going on.  If you isolate NYC's numbers, there have been 3500 deaths out of 132,000 cases with a population of 8.7 million.  That's a 2.6% mortality rate.  Now I realize less densely populated areas would have a lower rate, but just considering our major cities like Philadelphia, Atlanta, Houston, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New Orleans, etc., we would have considerably higher numbers for both cases and deaths.

And yes, I do understand that the economy is currently taking a major hit, but an uncontrolled pandemic would do damage to it as well.  The Fed Gov't seems to have a reasonable idea on how to minimize the damage, and since this is Global, we'll be working through it with other nations.  People keep saying they're optimistic that this will be less severe than the predictions and estimates.  I'm optimistic about that also since we've taken these social distancing measures.  But I'm also optimistic that the Global Economy will heal if all the affected nations take the appropriate actions to correct the damage to the economy.  We've been in worse situations, and we survived those only to become stronger.

Late to the party, but your posts are questionable sir. Your 1.8 million deaths was approximately 94,000 at the end of last week and has dropped another 10,000 over the weekend. Same goes for ICU beds and ventilators....nobody has run out yet. Both Fauci and Brix of the task force have admitted that China has lied from the beginning and that had we had the proper notice the whole world wouldn't be F'd right now. Some densely populated areas were always going to be prone to what NY is experiencing. You are really on here telling people about China and the WHO data when both of them have lost all credibility throughout the rest of the world? I suppose you would allow the WHO's recommendation of removing peoples family members from their homes and placing them in involuntary isolation....you must not have any family or loved ones. I'm just out of patience for the depressing hopeless anti-AMERICAN narrative that the media keeps pushing.

I guess your talking to me? See that red line? The 1.8 million was based on the "Let her Rip" method of dealing with this. What we have is the RESULT of social distancing. The other two lines show how effective social distancing is based when it is implemented and the cooperation given by the masses.

I also stated that if social distancing was  effective, and it seems it is, guys like you would come out of the woodwork proclaiming that it was nothing based on the low count. Seems my post are pretty much on the money. You have a nice day...and stay away from people...

So when people get back out, do the numbers of infections increase again? Not quite clear on the end game here. Can’t stay socially distant forever.

I'm a numbers guy Bob not an infectious disease doctor but logic says that we need it to die, find a vaccine for it, or a cure. The last two will take awhile. The first comes when something interrupts its ability to replicate. It needs a host to do that as I understand.

You are correct, Cuomo and the Mayor of NY were both saying well into February that there was nothing to worry about for New Yorkers. Pelosi, was telling people to flock to China Town. Fauci and the WHO were also saying nothing to worry about well into February as well. With these so called experts being dead wrong it doesn't seem advisable to make policy decisions on their guesses. The Left is over praising those folks because they will never give Trump even a shred of credit. The bigger problem is that re-opening the country is going to be dangerously political. The left will want to drag this out no matter  how bad in an effort to influence the election. They will propose shutting down and giving away free money until after the election. They will again try to stuff the relief bill with more green new deal, immigration and abortion nonsense that has nothing to do with this virus. The financial destruction will lag and will be ongoing for years to come already. The people that are financially taken care of or that have jobs where they can work from home are being incredibly insensitive about what the average labor worker is going through right now. Personally, I will get through this because my spending and living habits were forever changed as a result of the last recession. There is going to be some death with this, but far more poverty created and lives ruined. Rich people will get richer and the poor will be even worse off than they were before.

I know some were saying this but I question the "expert" status.  I remember sitting in a couple of US airports in January in awe of the huge number of travellers going through a large airport on a regular day.  Multiply this by the number of international airports in North America and your chances of any virus not hitting US soil are miniscule. (I believe the idea that the US could avoid this one was actually pretty limited.)   Hindsight will hopefully work to our advantage in the future and we'll collectively become experts in preventing the spread of deadly viruses!

I just read online, the WHO just revised the numbers way down. Of course their going to say shutting down everything worked. While no one was gathering in the usual places. They were at grocery stores. Can’t wait for my test. We’ll all have to take one.

That's odd. The numbers I collected for this graph are still there.

I have never put much stock in what a so-called expert said. I think the tag EXPERT is a joke.

Should be so and so's opinion is..............

Yes, I was. So I assume your plan would to be suspend life as we knew it for the next year and half and wait for a Vaccine? Sorry, but that isn't realistic for REAL people.  You must come from the standpoint of having no financial worry which is great for you. And it should also be your choice to stay at home for the next year and half, not mandated. People aren't even allowed to run lawn mowing crew that don't come in contact with any people, but everyone is allowed to flock to the same grocery store. I'm sure you have a chart of numbers that would somehow make that sound coherent also. As for social distancing, no one will ever be able to tell us what if any impact this would have had with it because it wasn't done. We do however know what happens when people don't work or have the ability to live life. Domestic abuse, mental health suicide, drug/alcohol overdoses, financial ruin, the list goes on and on. These things are and will continue to happen as a result of people struggling. a $1,200 check and extra unemployment aren't going to fix that. The only labor jobs left will to be a slave for Amazon or a like company. You have a nice day also!

New cases are based on test availability, not spread. Every area would be blowing up once it hit, not just ny. This is a coup...

The Fake media and Fauci keep having a bad attitude about a potential therapeutics, yet there are so many stories just like this out there not being covered by any mainstream media. This should be great hopeful news for all Americans, but not a peep from CNN MSNBC, ABC CBS or any of the usual dirtbag outlets. Remember anything Trump says is bad, even if it saves a life. Disgusting.
