So what’s the data from the sturgis motorcycle rally protest where they said it was going to be a huge outbreak?

Ryan B.

Fixed that for ya.  :)

There are certain "medical experts" that claim the large gatherings like protest discourage more people from venturing out on the streets, so protests actually have a positive benefit in this respect. The article didn't even touch on what the protesters themselves spreading by:

Traveling from city to city to protest.

Yelling, screaming, chanting, etc.... with or without masks

Plus all the other ways the virus can leave your body, sweat being one of them.

On a personal note, no environmentalists in these protests apparently..... have you seen all the crap they leave behind.   :jester:

I'm sorry I want to live and be something in this world. I guess I will just stop my life completely so you feel better.

If you don't want to catch it, then keep your old self at home and far away from others. I don't have the luxury of being able to collect a pension or social security so I can't just drop everything. Somebody still has to put money into that system so others can benefit from it.

I agree! What I don't agree with is not wearing a mask. Not keeping your distance. Literally the least you can do.

My brother had a family gathering outside by his pool yesterday. My mother was there. It’s amazing and amusing how everyone automatically went into social distancing mode. The kids did interact in the pool not like usual. People should be able to handle this bug in a way it makes them comfortable. Even if it means isolation at home. No one should have to live under someone else’s fear and preferences. In contrast my mother in law stays at home even though she’s very healthy. My mother travels daily to the rec center and swims with my wife. There’re both comfortable with their lifestyle and choice.

I do not want to make it sound like my comment is singled out to one specific person here, it's more or less just saying what they have been saying for a long time already. Wear the mask, stay a little bit more away from others when out and about. If it's not something you want to get then yeah you shouldn't be out there as much.

It's just that the same people I hear/see pointing fingers at people my age are the same people that are no longer doing anything to contribute and keep places open. I don't have a problem with that until they all start complaining about this that and whatever. I'm happy that many are able to retire, I'm sure they have earned their rest. Unfortunately for the young guns, we have to be more active and the possibility of us getting it and spreading it is always going to be higher.

Some people live to spread fear instead of being reasonable cautious. This bug is bad to certain people. Once that was figured out life should have returned to relative normal. It became political and used as a weapon, it still is. For comparison look at Texas covid dashboard and California. Little limits vs max limits. Little difference. Now look at all the things that can effect your life in any given day. I’m embarrassed that I let this effect me as much as I did. What if fear can be crippling. I know lots of people did die. Dig deep into those numbers. And where most of those happened and where they didn’t. A picture begins to form.

Forgive me for stating the obvious. As with almost any other bug, if there was one age group you’d want this virus to be going through, it’s young people. By and large they aren’t affected, and they can act as a wall. Establishing herd immunity and thereby protecting everyone else, including the cranky old farts here besmirching them.

The other obvious point...people who are the most in favor of staying home, locking down, panicking others, etc., tend to be people who’s lives haven’t changed much with the lockdowns. At least in my own life, the guys who didn’t go out much before, and don’t need to work...they haven’t taken much issue with the blanket restrictions in place. Just human nature and that’s fine.

But contrast that with a lot of the younger crowd and how their lives are upside down. No school for them (or their school aged kids), many of their low wage jobs cut, no recreation or entertainment. For a virus that does nothing to them, mind you. Now is it possible some of that misdirected anger comes out in riots? I dunno. No excuse for it, but it makes you wonder.

Big box stores making more and more money. All the mom and pop stores that most of the older crowd is usually concerned about are a fart in the wind. Dem controlled cities are falling to the wayside. We have babbling idiot Biden who picked a vp only for color. The media out and out lies without recourse. People are now afraid of their own shadow. All of this so easily done. That’s what scares me. Never in my life did I think nyc would be the way it currently is. But it’s not just one city. If the left continues to do what it does and we have a dem president, we are all screwed.

Here’s another one...it’s becoming common knowledge...

https://nypost.com/2020/09/06/its-now-looking-like-the-lockdowns-may-have-been-a-huge-mistake/

I’ll continue to pat myself on the back for saying all of this 4+ months ago when certain people were still parroting the experts about how necessary lockdowns were. No, I’m not some clairvoyant here, it was simply obvious for anyone capable of critical thinking.

New York has been flat for a month. Still doesn’t want to loosen its socialist grip. Shameful

All of these lockdowns and restrictions...they are like a bad relationship. Easy to get into, but an impossible hell to get out of. And the longer it goes on, the harder it gets.

If we would have told them to pound sand after the 15 days to flatten the curve, things would be different. Now that we are in what, day 457 of 15 days? I don’t know what the heck we can do. Everyone is adjusted to the new normal and many even prefer it. Some are still scared too.

It’s funny how mindset is different all on where you live and who you support. The left was very quick to give up their freedom(but yet ironically riot for other) yet the right leaning people leaning towards back to what was once accepted as normal. I live outside of nyc and majority want school full time and everything open. The closer you get to the city, the more liberal you get, the more freedom they’re willing to give up
