I have no issues with you Grumps!  Actually, I have learned a great deal...

The boasting was not pertaining to "you" more to me I was inferring and my ranking was considerably lower than my peers.  Mostly due to my energetic behavior and party atmosphere in later schooling days.  Believe me I think one of the greatest tragedies is the lopsided higher education systems that "Woefully" overcharge to push Left Wing Ideology.  It's only gotten worse since my time and the schools actively recruit and remove PROF'S that even show a inkling of conservatism.

Having direct Family members as Teachers and one a previous Principle in Illinois of all places I can tell you they are not worried about kids loosing "what you have been not taught" per: Grumps. They are squarely concerned about the "Monumental GAP."  Now we are spending up to Christmas break getting back to where kids should be?  The quality, time, Volume will never be normal this year?  So yeah " I never taught my dog to shake" I ONLY taught him how to "roll Over" "Fetch."  Those are things that will be lost Grumps, the missing pieces that may or may not ever be filled in?

Hey, if it's not your kid and somebody else's that  is learning to write d instead of b and it takes weeks, weeks because they already learned that "tiny" bit but somehow during their "GAP" they have put it into their heads the d is b and so forth?  Grumps, it's a major, major problem to prolong the kids learning and ZOOM or whatever the video crap is called is not going to help anybody.  That is only endorsed by Left Liberals to just put em in front of computer screen crap because it's not SAFE CRAP!

Your are nothing if sincere.

No matter how long it has been you don't forget how to ride a bike. Count. Know colors. Know your ABC's or mount a ......okay you get the idea. Rusty? Yea. Forget? Not a chance. If it were true then no one over 25 could even get a job.

Kids are way more resilient than adults in every way.

That said, seems like a nice place to leave this, eh? Let's get back to an good old fashion oil debate. :)

You know I like giving you a hard time. But you can round the numbers for children way up or way down. A 0.00% mortality rate won’t change much no matter what you do.

Ironically, your own idiom about not hiding bodies would also apply here. If we can’t hide em...well, I don’t see ‘em, you don’t see ‘em, safe to say they don’t exist?

What serious person can look at all of the evidence/ studies/ stats for schools and school aged children and conclude we need to close for a year? It would be as bad as me saying the virus didn’t exist at this point.

Maybe I’m way off base here but it just makes no sense at all and I’m left to think it’s simply political. Because it sure ain’t rational.

I consider myself a serious person. Just not a credulous one. I have no worries about the kids. Was it you that said kids are Teflon? It's the parents and grand's that become a risk. Staff at school. Then they to others. Kids are spreaders. HUGE spreaders.

I have to ask. Do you have kids?

Reason I ask is any parent that isn't farming out his parenting to a boarding school knows for a fact that his health is directly tied to his kids schools health. I still have the first cold my son ever brought home when I was 26. 40 years is a long time to have a cold. :) Son, they can twist and spin till the cows come home but if you've been a parent you know for a fact that any study that says other is full of hot air of a fragrant nature. I have six of my own and 14 grands with a great on the way. I know what crap a kid brings home and how quick an adult catches it. Don't try to school me with some lame 10 minute study from an organization you yourself find without credit.

Common cold to head lice. Child to parent is assured. Child to teacher ditto. God could tell me other and I wouldn't believe it. I already lived it. You think some study from an agency you have already said is not trustworthy will change what I've seen and lived?

Now that I will agree with 100%.

Hey, a year is NOT a "monumental gap". I went to school with a kid I'll call Steve and another called Mike. Steve has some genetic issue and missed two years. Mike had bone cancer loosing a leg missing a year. Both never skipped a beat learning. They just graduated a year or two latter. Both survived. Both quite successful.

My youngest girl (fifth of six kids) pushed her middle child to an academic nose bleed. Well, she bled out, is wasted and confused and may never recover from others worries about her personal achievement.

My mother had a sixth grade education. After having 5 kids over a 40 year span she went back to school. GED then college. She was a art teacher at the University of Iowa, Iowa City. Kirkwood extension until she died. H*LL I taught her to read from her own Bible. Your talking smack. People like to give themselves to much credit for what children are capable of. What we normally need to do is just get out of their way.

Who’s going to take care of all these kids when the govt decides to stop cutting checks and parents must return to work? I do have to agree with you. Kids get a cold, stomach bug, lice, it goes around the house most times like wildfire. I’m a bit of a germ phobe. I try to take as many precautions not to get sick and i usually don’t get what they bring home. I never get the flu shot. I believe getting it builds up your immune system. Knock on wood I got it only twice in the past 20 yrs I’d say. And lice, ha, thank god i keep a shaved head. I’ve spent many hours between my daughter and wife when my daughter brought it home twice. The boys are easy, shave it. Anyway, the one thing I keep reading/hearing is this bug has very small transmission rate from kid to adult. How true this may be idk. I believe some countries in Europe that stayed open have said they’ve had no cases of teachers getting sick from kids. How that is proven is beyond me. However, after watching that video I posted I feel has brought up some major issues with fighting this virus. Notice how the doctors mentioned many times how they were going to be reported to the nih. Why are they being shunned? Why are they soo against using hydroxycholorquine zpack and zinc? Why do they need to push a vaccine if there’s costly and affective treatment? This country is going to ****** all because of greed and politics.

Makes ya wonder why kids can even go to school in the first place, I mean if they can spread germs and stuff so easy they should never be allowed out of the house in the first place.

I think I've found the solution, we must eliminate all kids from the planet............

umm..when I went school the kids who went everyday and tried but just no matter how hard they tried couldn't keep up, they flunked!  The kids that never showed up missed days whenever, sick all the time etc. guess what? They flunked too!

Enter 21st Century Schooling: Grumps....You can do absolutely nothing as a kid and the Teacher can put into that kids education 100% ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TOO!  Guess what?  That kid passes on to the next grade.  The system is fundamentally LIBERALIZED/BASTARDIZED whatever you want to call it...any GAP is ABSOLUTELY a problem especially in today's crap schools systems!

“No kid left behind.” That’s the saying now. It’s terrible. Now they’re lowering standards for wannabe lawyers in Cali. For what? We know for what. So what does that mean? They are intellectually inferior? Need a hand out. Guess they’ll always be expecting it then. Then one day they’ll start throwing Molotov cocktails at cop cars because wahhhh

Now that the US covid is trending down the screamers are picking on the kids. Make them stay home, they say. Do you know most school buses don’t have seat belts? Maybe you could start on that. In other news. The local Texas news is reporting a change to the covid death calculation. Instead of with to from. Interesting.

That's deplorable. It's also almost exactly what I said. You can't loose something you never had. Basics. Forbid someone should dust off the basics and teach them again. Was it harder? I would have thought so but I forget allot of things anymore. If it's to be a memory test then I suppose your right in your reasoning. Not that  you need my approval :)

How sad it is that you never see a child have an A-HA moment when they make that mental leap from what it means to how it works then make a thing you haven't yet taught them work all on their own? Deplorable I tell you. Kid can't write his own name. Can't read the Gettysburg Address original manuscript. Seniors that can't do long division or extract a square root.

Now all that said, I'll take an ignorant child over a dead parent. Besides that card is over played. Neighbors boy, now in his mid 20's, was home schooled and has a college education. Lot's of kids already do online  learning. K12 programs. I can think of at lease thirty examples within my own circle. There's one class room.

My final word on it. Life is to precious. Even a Gezzer. Especially a teacher.  Now what will happen is beyond my control...and yours too as a matter of fact, so quibbling until someone bleeds is senseless, right?

Just mind wandering. How damaging is it to a child that they are no longer permitted to be children? Prepping for entrance exams before they are four years old. Fighting and scratching for that top school or last seat. There's a line in a John Cash song that goes something like,

'"If a steam drill can replace a man's means of living then what's the substitute for bread and beans".

You owe me two more swings John Henry.

I just watch world numbers now. Google News numbers. It took 141 days to get the first million cases. After that is been under 13 days.  Now down to 4 days per million. Yesterdays a new single day peak of over 328 K cases. More than 30% higher that the previous record! Can this go to 3 days? 2 days? Multiple millions per day? Up till yesterday acceleration was double the previous peak. One day does not a trend make. Hope it was just late or lazy reporting.
