The taxes and income for cities is something I think about too. Tons of cities are already begging for money from people that live there. They ask (here atleast) every year it seems like for tax increases because they need this or need that because they are terrible at managing money. It's like they take it, spend some and flush the rest down the toilet and ask for more the next year because somehow they ran out of money in the snap of the finger.

Now that many business are closed and for many they will never open again, some of these cities will feel the brunt of having nothing to get taxes from and things will begin to crumble in some area's. Yet it's still okay to shop with a few hundred people but going to smaller places with less is considered a death sentence. Eating on a patio or in a place where the next family is 20 feet away with 50% capacity is still unsafe but walking into walmart with full parking lots is safe.

I love our governor and his posse on their thought process, I'm sure this can be echoed by many here. They let most businesses this past Monday open but said if you own a gym, restaurant, salon and a few other can't. They won't even give a date and they have to wait until at least June 1st before any word on the matter. What makes you think in 2 more weeks that things will be any different??

Do they think in two weeks it would be anymore safe than yesterday?? As if these places closed for 2 month don't already have a specific plan of rules they are going to follow so they can open safely but nah you need more time to be broke and maybe fold because bills don't just pay themselves. And with no set date in mind how can places even begin to plan about ordering stock so they can serve people. Some foods can't just be kept, beer doesn't just fall from the sky, freezers are empty and the fairy doesn't come in at night to fill it up.

If you ask me, there are too many people in power that want to be important instead of being useful.

I believe that in general, the government leaders, state, local, national, all want to get the economy back up and running and they don't want to see anything fail, but there is so much fear out there of the "what if's?" and the liability and blame falls back on them if they open things too soon and there is massive outbreak and lots more get sick and die.  Kind of damned if you do, damned if you don't.   But I also believe that we are not offered any guarantees in life.  (Except taxes and eventually death)  If you are well, go out and work and if you get sick, get home and try to get better.  Those at higher risk such as elderly, young, or with compromised immune systems probably have to stay home or limited somewhat.  But Those who are well, get back to work.

Now that the virus stuff is settling down a bit and states are opening up the left is back in hot pursuit of impeachment. Right now the country clearly needs to spend more money on impeachment and to pass bills that pay illegal immigrants stimulus money, government funded abortions and money for weed stores. Their behavior is completely out of touch with the American people. Oh, and the left are also trying to alleviate all responsibility of China's mishandling of this virus. Is Pelosi the speaker of China? Also interesting to note that people who were previously praised by the left are now the dirt beneath their feet if they dare to disagree with them. Elon Musk simply states that he doesn't agree with the unconstitutional policies being enforced in a few words via twitter and supports freedom only to be trashed by the media and democrats. They have gone as far as to say he has mental problems. I'm not an Elon Musk fan at all, but the hypocrisy is starting to become comical at this point. Lesson is anyone who disagrees with them gets treated like the orange man.

Cities are in deep trouble all around. The country’s response to COVID built the ultimate argument against mass transit and living on top of one another in a big a city. Since left-leaning people dominate the big city population/ leadership, and also tend (or pretend) to be the most concerned about the virus, they are going to find themselves permanently uncomfortable in the environment they created.

People with money got sick of confiscatory taxation and have been fleeing these cities (and even states) for years. Can you imagine 5 or 10 years from now? The people afraid of germs will have left. The people sick of living under draconian orders will have left.

They did this to themselves. The unfortunate thing is...we all have to suffer for it as the New York centric media treats the entire country as a high risk COVID war zone.

Nicely put son!  I lived in worked in Chicago decades ago!  Complete joke!  City runs the state and the people running the state are more crooked/bought than LA politicians and that is saying something.  You know your in trouble when talking to people of this nature can't even be done respectfully because they know what's best!

Take a look at Illinois Covid cases....Cook county at it's finest as the sea change of demographics has REALLY SHOWN it's head!

I never got the shot either and yes I guess I'm becoming a bit of a germaphobe. Makes sense that other diseases transmitted in like manor would respond favorably to these new procedures. At least for those that follow them. I've nearly washed the hide right off my mittens.

Been thinking about dropping an oil thread firecracker and see if anyone is awake.

Yup, we fled Illinois years ago and things have only gotten worse. Pritzker locks everyone down and then sends his family to Florida. Chicago mayor tells people that getting their hair done isn’t essential and then gets caught having a haircut on social media. Easy to make rules when you know you don’t have to follow them, and your checks are still coming in.

Unfortunately WI hasn’t been much better as of late. Until last week we had one of the most restrictive “safer at home” orders in the country. For a state with just 12,000 cases, most concentrated in Milwaukee. Even after the state Supreme Court shot down the statewide order, individual counties and cities set out to extend and make their own, some spanning until the end of July now.

The left's only unwavering policy has been hypocrisy for many years. I have a a good feeling there is going to be a mass exit from the left in November. Real people don't care to live under the rule of those kind of folks. Most of the worst decisions made during this crisis have been made by blue state governors....ie the nursing home debacle. Yet, those governors are all immune from any MSM criticism.

Really?  End of July?  Must be democrat running those chit-shows too?  Unfortunate, that it's come to this Politicians SUX is the moral of the story!

The list goes on and on.....and now the Falling off the cliff or right side of Curve is happening and nobody says anything other than just wait it will get worse and have a resurgence!!  I like the guy Bright Phd and his "Darkest winter" memoir?  Really, you can't say that.  I will be the first to call that out.  The only thing to be said about Covid-19 in Fall Season for Northern Hemisphere is....it's possible?
