What size tires on Dubs

Recommended Posts

I am looking at 20" wheels for my 98 Ex Cab, and am not sure what size tire. It has a 3/4 drop, cause we still pull a fifth wheel trailer, so I can't go with anything too low profile. I also don't want anything really any taller then stock either. Anyone got suggestions???

I would think something like a 285/50-20 or 305/50-20. I'm not sure about 285's, but I believe the 305/50-20 is basically a 32x12.50-20, so it's a pretty big tire. Most of the tire manufacturers websites list the tires specs.

Go with the 305/50/20 size. I think the Toyo Proxes (ST?) may have a sufficient load rating that you need. Goodyear Eagle GTII are also available in that size. One note of caution: you may need to clearance the covers in your front wheelwells a bit. My neighbor had this problem with his chevy ext cab, but I haven't heard of anyone else with this problem. Good luck and your truck will look killer with those tires!

Oops! started typing before I read the post. The 3/4 drop makes a tighter fit with those 305 on there. You'll need something shorter. The 285/50/20 is 31.6" tall. You can check out www.eunos.com and they have a tire size calculator in their garage section to see how tall of a tire you can stuff your wheelwells. Also check out some of the tire manufacturers to see who has the load rating you need. I'd say that the Toyo would be a safe choice.
