LED Turn Signals and Tail Lights

Recommended Posts

I just bought a combination of OXILAM (7440 - turn signals & 921 - reverse lights) and AUXITO (194/2825 - license plate lights) on Amazon.  I will try to remember to come back to this post and update thoughts once they arrive and are installed.

I've been running the OXILAM (bought on Amazon) since May 2019. Zero problems with them. They are excellent.

I see these guys out there with OEM bulbs in their Silverados and just ?. One of the most paltry signal lights I've seen. The LEDs make a massive difference.

I see you have a 2020 Elevation as well. Did you replace the brake/turn signals and the reverse lights in the rear? I'm looking to swap out the actual whole tail light with the AT4/Denali but I can't seem to find answers if it's a direct swap... otherwise I'll get bulbs. Thanks!

I have done the reverse lights but have not touched the brake/turn bulbs.... Long term I also want to replace the entire housing to full LED's and my understanding is that as long as you have the harness it should be a plug and play but like you, I have not been able to confirm it.
I also reached out to RECON about a timeframe of when they may be releasing an aftermarket option but there isn't anything available from them yet.

Thanks for the info. Do you mean, purchase the harness that would come with the LED tail lights normally or use the existing one with what we have? Thanks much for the quick reply.

I would be inclined to say that we would have to use the harnesses that come with the full LED lights... Or like you said, purchase them. Our existing harnesses would not work. In theory I'd love to get a hold of the OEM LED tail lights with their harnesses.

So I ended up ordering the upgraded tails from a reputable seller online. They're the OEM genuine tails for the AT4 / Denali model. I ordered the halogen to LED transition harness from www.gen5diy.com and ran the wiring the exact same way it was on the original tails and plugged everything in and it works perfectly. The only "complaint" or bug that I see is having to screw in and mount the resistor somewhere tucked up in the back of the truck.

That sounds awesome.. Good to know that it is almost plug and play [emoji28]
Did the resistor come with the harness you bought?
Do you mind sharing the online retailer where you bought the lights from?
Man I really want to do but I just tied up a bit of play money on a couple of stocks.

No problem! It's as close to plug and play as it gets. I bought the tails here - https://www.ebay.com/str/emanuelautoparts they came in perfect shape wrapped in the original wrap and packaging. I got the harness here - https://www.gen5diy.com/collections/19-20-sierra-products/products/2019-led-taillight-harness-1500-models ... disconnected the OG tail light under the truck on each side, unscrewed and removed them and the harnesses. Ran the new harness down and followed the same path as the OG tail lights, but didn't plug them in.. took the gen5diy harness and plugged one side into the end of the tail light harness, the other end into the truck. The resistor is part of the harness and in-line in between the tails and the truck. Just have to mount it up behind in the back of the truck into something metal to dissipate the heat.

I'm buying a set of led taillights but don't come with the OE harness.... Do you know the part# or where I can purchase?

For future resource, the OE harness part number for the AT4 LED tail light(s) is #84234372. I have a pair of these harnesses on the way which I will attach to the AT4 LED tail lights. You will still need the GEN5DYI harness with the built-in resistors.
