Tow Mirrors WORKING On a 2019!

Recommended Posts

So I wanted to update my original post, but I couldn't figure out how to do it.

Anyway, after much research and with help and collaboration from TNT799 - We have figured out how to get the 2020 Tow Mirrors fully functional on a 2019. It's actually kinda simple, you just need to tap into the following wires on the BCM and, run them to the mirrors and tap into the corresponding wires in the mirrors:

X7 - PIN 4 - Cargo Lamp Switch Control
X4 - PIN 3 - Right Turn Signal
X5 - PIN 2- Left Turn Signal

X4 Pin 13 - Running Lights

I have tested and confirmed this in "spaghetti mode" on my truck. However I don't have it hard-installed. I'm going to be working on that this weekend. When I'm done I'll post pictures as well as the color codes of the wires inside the tow mirrors. I just wanted to get the info out to those of you who have been wanting the tow mirrors to function on your 2019.

I have these 100% working and functional now.. I've posted in detail on the Facebook 2019-2020 Silverado's group. I'll be updating the full walk through here soon.

Here's my original post on the tow mirrors:

Hey, I was curious if you ever finished this install and a write-up. I traded my standard mirrors for some fully loaded tow mirrors, and it would be cool to get the various light features working properly.

Yes. I did get them working 100%. I posted in detail on the Facebook Group 2019+ Silverado/Sierra & 2020 HD Trucks. Here's the overview:

Here’s the circuits you have to tap into:
X4 pin 3 - right turn signal
X5 pin 2 - left turn signal
X7 pin 4 - cargo lamp LED’s
X4 pin 13 - running/clearance lamp

PM me and I will send you all the pics and procedures in detail.

One question.  I have a HC and use my blind spot monitoring on my side mirrors.  Do the tow mirrors have the blind spot and does it work?

Thanks for taking the time to research this and get it out to us. [emoji4]

Yes, if you get tow mirrors with that feature they will continue to work, plug and play.

Correct. You would have to buy tow mirrors from a 2020 HC 1500 (order them from the parts department.) Higher end tow mirrors with cams & blindspot warnings are not available on the accessory site.

Update: I swapped pins 5 and 13 in my harness and now my tow mirror task lights are functioning normally. As these tow mirrors do not have puddle lights underneath, the integrated parking lights now come on instead of the puddle lamps. TNAT4 and I came to this conclusion based on pin diagrams for our vehicles. He has yet to swap pins on his standard mirrors, but he should regain task light functionality as well.

If anyone is interested in the pin diagrams for the 2019 and 2020 GMC trucks, I can post them up. I plan to build and add a 3-wire harness to my truck that will allow the turn signals, parking lamps, and rear cargo lights to function.

Yes, please post them. I plan to get the tow mirrors in the future.

Did you guys have the dealer do any calibration/programming for the cameras?

2020 GMC Sierra

Mirror screenshots are attached, here is a link to the whole electric manual: https://www.gmupfitter.com/files/media/photo/1290/20_Sierra_1500_Electrical_Body_Builder_2019JUN20.pdf

I've been told that pin 16, which isn't marked as anything specific, is the rear-facing cargo lamps.

I posted them above.

As mentioned before, both of our cameras are misaligned. They still work, but the surround view is rather skewed on the sides. TNAT4 went to his dealer to get reprogramming done, and they were unable to do it without a code from GM. From what I understand, he would have had to buy another set of GM mirrors that come with a code, and there would still be no guarantee that they would be able to reprogram the mirrors I traded him.

Maybe he can chime in at some point, but he was looking into having a custom shop fab up a mirror housing that would relocate his cameras to his previously calibrated locations.
