Dealership issue

Recommended Posts

So if anyone is from the north metro Atlanta  area, you should avoid Rick Hendrick Chevrolet of Buford. I took my truck in for a leaking back window that stained the headliner. In the process of replacing the headliner, they gouged both A-pillar panels on the inside when they were taking them down as well as messing up the door seals. The service manager acted as if he was doing me a favor by replacing the driver side A-pillar and door seals but refused to replace the passenger side A-pillar because it wasnt "damaged enough" even though the bolt cover fell off while driving. The truck is still under warranty but they refused to fix what they damaged because it wasn't "damaged enough." Then when they either replaced the rear door seal or was detailing it, they broke a piece of trim on the back door. They take no pride in their work nor do they care about your property.

In saying this, I want to warn everyone, but I also need recommendations for a service department that isn't complete garbage. Any recommendations in the Gwinnett/Hall/Forsyth area?

I bought mine at Southtowne Chevrolet in Newnan but Malcolm Cunningham Chevrolet north point sealed my window last week. They did a really good job bc it doesn’t look like they touched anything inside or out. No leaks so far and it’s rained here in Johns Creek for the past 3 days.

What dealer did you buy the truck from?  Did you buy from Rick Hendrick?

It shouldn't matter where the truck was purchased.  If it is under warranty, any GM dealer should take care of it.  Especially if they caused damage to it themselves. (It isn't coming out of their pocket)   GM pays for it, and the techs make money.  I'm not saying dealerships should try to fraud GM, but if there's a legitimate issue, a dealer should not hesitate at all.

I've had interior trim pieces replaced due to poor fitment, and exterior running boards replaced for rusting on the 2016 I had before my 2019.  It's all about taking care of the customer.  A loyal customer base is what sustains sales and growth...without them, you no longer have a dealership.

It shouldn’t matter. I was just curious if that was how they treated their vehicle buying customers.

all dealers are supposed to treat everyone the same especially with warranty work. However that is not always the case.

I'll call GM again and see if a different person can do better. Until then, I'm going to leave bad reviews about the dealership everywhere I can.

No offense intended at all, but you are clearly not a Type-A personality.  I am though and I would not have left that dealership until the issues were corrected to my satisfaction (or at least get a written promise to repair later if parts needed ordering) and that service manager would feel about 1/2" tall by the time I was done with him.

Actually I am. I had to walk away from the service manager before the cops were called and I was given a criminal trespass warning. I attempted to speak to the GM of the dealership, but he's one of those people that refuse to leave their office.

Call GM back as soon as you can, ask for a supervisor, don't waste your time with the frontline phone peons.

Tell them that you would like to open a formal complaint against the dealership, and explain in detail why you are doing this.

Make sure to get a case number, and any other info that you will need to proceed, probably will be forms that need to sent to GM headquarters.

Dealerships never want a call from GM about something like this, it effects their standings, which can hurt them in the future.

I feel your pain and hope it all works out for you man.  I have a significant displeasure towards my dealer all based on personal experience and it really does suck.

I bought my 14 and 16 from Colonial in Loganville Ga. Their service has been great on both trucks when in for warranty work.  I got my 20 from Rick Hendrick GMC in Duluth. When I cancelled the extended warranty on my 16 I had to go back to the dealer. They asked me why I didn't buy from them and basically I told them their salesmen was not very good. The salesman I dealt with on previous trucks was no longer there. I asked him if I could bring my new truck in for warranty as I have always had good service there. He told me yeah no problem. It's also 1/2 the distance to go to Duluth for me. I'm coming to my 1st oil change mileage and need some recalls fixed so I'll be seeing if they are still any good soon. As for RH Chevy in Duluth. I would never go back to them. We got my wife's Traverse from there and it was not a good sales experience. Should have walked out!
